Cause it levels the playing field. Everyone starts off weak and then its a mad dash to become the strongest from there. Also it means new land to explore. New villages to make etc.

"Losing all your hard work" also means the world will not have such a large difference between players, there won't be claimed lands that no one owns, there will be mines to grab, etc. Think of it as a new opportunity, not a loss.

Losing our hard work is not a good thing, but the idea of starting new on a brand new map is breathtaking. So is the idea of all the serious power imbalances in the game getting scrunched.

A lot of the work ends up getting redone anyway after you have played for awhile. For example, your starting spot is great at first, but then you find an iron mine and moving out to that becomes practical so a whole new serious of houses, fixtures and fortifications goes up. And the really long term players have been through the earlier map reset and knew this was coming for a long, long time so probably had it in the back of their minds to prepare for it. Of course I would have guessed that June was the earliest likely type of date, or maybe next August.... so this is a BIG surprise.

I think it is cool.

Very few people logged in on it, the kids from Wayneville mostly used it to dick around, and very few relevant comments on the system were made. Thus, our conclusion has been that, for all intents and purposes, the main server is the only real, meaningful test server we can have, because that's the only place where this stuff actually matters to you.

ah well, it was a good try. please keep it in mind for other earthshattering changes

One thing I'd like ot see happen before the reset is to add that herb that gets cows to give milk so we can get some basic stuff. I think something like a liter per herb and a relative rarity equivilent to mushrooms would be appropriate and still make it worth raising cows.

Well it might be all amazing for you guys but i just started playing the game a few days ago. I nearly have all the things i need for a long expedition into the wilderness. I was going to go to the far corners of the earth and set up my own little fort and whatnot. The reset from my perspective is pretty much a kick in the nuts since what you're cheering for is what i was just about to do anyway.
