Does it matter who the other yeomen are? For example, if one would want a village idol but did not have enough active village members online at one time, could foreign yeomen come and help build it with no 'negative' side effects? Like them being listed as part of the village, them owning the idol in some way, etc?

They do certainly become part of the village; and as of now, there's no way to leave it, and nor is there anyway to invite new village members currently. Both of those flaws will be addressed, though, but it is likely that the village as an entity will suffer from negative effects if there aren't enough members in it.

Interesting. Can't wait to see what comes from this. Hopefully some more defensive possibilities ;)

All yeomen who partake in the activation will be listed as village members. And, please note that unlike most MMOs, H&H will not allow you to arbitrarily join and leave communities. Joining and leaving in game communities are all very much game actions. The lawspeaker will have the ability to 'Exile' village members, but this will draw on a as of yet unannounced village resource. Village members will be able to leave the village after 'Voicing Dissent' a number of times. Voicing Dissent will, however, hurt the village as a whole. At the moment, the village can not extend its membership beyond the founding five, but this will change with the next update.

Also, the village is only the first and most basic community. We hope to implement several forms of government and community organization further down the line.

Do towns get names? Like when the claim is made, do you name it?

Ah, interesting teaser. I expect (=P) some update this day, or monday. Even though I was hoping for more nature content...

How many people have at least one person with Lawspeaking and have started on their village idol?

For those who don't have this skill yet, a village idol needs:
4 deer antles, 4 bear teeth, 10 dreams, 200 stones, 20 blocks, 20 boards, 40 bones.

A town can only be 5 people right now? or can you add more?
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
