As well as a few choice others.

The inner party is basically guaranteed access to early testing. Congratulations for realizing the obvious.

And yeah the testers really should be hand-picked cause its a combination of forum activity, game activity, bug reporting, attitude, play-style (don't want only farmers to test it, don't want only fighters to test it), etc.

Congratulations for misconstruing my comment by thinking it was me stating my view on who will be picked.
My statement was an observation in regards to the theories of alpha admittance in this thread, not a conjecture of my own.

At the moment, I'm more curious as to the number of people who will be admitted to the early alpha testing on Halloween rather than who those people are.

Going from my previous game testing experience, probably 30-50 to start, maybe a few more in a week or two if more is needed. You want enough people online consistently enough to actually test things that need testing. After that, it will either be as server bugs are worked out and more can be handled or as problems become harder to find and will just take a more brute force that warrants higher numbers (cause a couple hundred people can miss one little detail that someone going OCD over one aspect of gameplay catches). After that it should just be an "open beta" type situation where the server is more or less in a live state.

Just some random musings here about how I'd expect things might go, not how things actually are.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

That's around where I was guesstimating based on my past experience, but each developer is different.

Oh of course. Why anyone would think otherwise for anything said in here that isn't backed up by a legitimate source is beyond me.

Comedic value, maybe? Why so serious?

Except that the raw majority of those people don't play anymore?

I'll trade the beta slot to anyone who can get me a private W3 server.
