Why would anyone ever want that? Please explain.

Well for some people its fun to find a flower or craft a toy, put it into study tab and wait until you get lp and for some people it's fun to go into forest with 2 friends find a bear, fight and afterwards get lp.

Why would anyone ever want to farm lp on pearls? Please explain.

Everything is personal preference.

Well, I'm ok with bears giving you LP, since you can't write a script to farm bears. Or trolls. Well, you can at some point, but it won't be effective and safe.

I think it is safe to say that we're not going back to that. It encourages mindlessly slaughtering all the wildlife in the region to grind and that specifically was a major qualm that the devs had. That and just how easy it was to bot. Before you say that botting is still around, I will assure you it was 100x worse in the old system with buckets and endless dream catcher farms.

I'm not saying about full wipe and going back to old system of lp. We can always make bears give lp not buckets.

@Edit: and i don't really know why it's hard to catch bots when there are 300 players online, just add invisibility and ability to teleport to any player and catch bots like in tibia old days. 10 moderators with such ability and 100 players checked every day easily. I'm sure there are a lot of people here who hate botting and they are willing to help to catch one, meanwhile some plyaers tell me that jorb and loftar allows botting.

Yes, let's have this discussion for the millionth time.

  • We do not want ingame moderation, as it is by nature arbitrary, error prone, subjective, and contrary to the spirit of the game.
  • You are extremely naive in your view of what bot detection -- automated or manual -- entails.
  • A google search for "tibia bots", yields 369,000 hits. Do you consider this to be a mark of the raging success of Tibia's anti-botting measures? If not, then why recommend them?
  • Botting is often simply an indication of poorly designed and overly simplistic game mechanics. We would in all things do well to attack the disease, rather than the symptom.

Highlighting the last point for emphasis. While arguably idealistic, Haven and Hearth seems to have made more progress in this area than most online games.

I do hope the next release further improves the mechanics and makes it more fun for actual players, rather than botters.

Are you adding a statue to this iteration of the game?

  • Ingame moderation contraty to the spirit of the game? So you prefer to leave obvious alt bots instead of catching them, because you don't want an ingame moderation?
  • I would be grateful if you explain how controlled-manual-bot-detecion-ability given to trusted players, one or two, leads to bad.
  • I wrote about anti-botting system of old tibia as an example hoping that someone played tibia like maybe 6-8 years ago and that someone is going to understand what I mean. You clearly don't. Nowdays none of the "ingame moderators" is using such system and to be honest IMO tibia would be dead without bots, and gamemasters are fine with botting. But if you really want to see the success of Tibia's anti-botting measures, download Tibia and download the bot, look how developed it is, for example, when gamemaster tp to you and ask a question, bot will answer, send you a message on your phone what happend and eventually do what you programmed in options.
  • That's of course much better idea, but why wouldn't you attack symptoms as well, if it doesn't take a lot of effort?

jorb wrote:Yes, let's have this discussion for the millionth time.

Sorry that I wasn't here for past 4 years and I didn't follow that discussions. TBH all i want to know from devs, is lp system about which I was asking, I started discussion about bots not with intention to bother you. I don't really care about botting in game, I don't try to be pro or the most farmed player in haven. Even during world 3 or 4 I was the member of small 4-6 people village. I didn't care about bots or people who could crush palisade bare handed, I was just playing with friends and having fun. That's the different point of view, beacuse teleporting with crossroads, alts, bots or farming on buckets, I never used it, so it doesnt really matter for me if lp system is more anti-bot friendly as long as it's not fun for me.
