Fun fact: old posts don't get deleted on this forum. Another fun fact: you can limit search to a specific user's posts (i.e. the devs).

  • Ingame moderation contraty to the spirit of the game? So you prefer to leave obvious alt bots instead of catching them, because you don't want an ingame moderation?

Yes, ingame moderation is entirely contrary to the spirit of the game. If you don't like what a particular player is doing, why not attack them yourself? Especially, indeed, if botting is so "obvious". (It isn't obvious, which is precisely the problem.)

  • I would be grateful if you explain how controlled-manual-bot-detecion-ability given to trusted players, one or two, leads to bad.

  • What part of error prone, subjective and arbitrary did you not understand? Giving humans the ability to magically overrule the results as determined by the game rules simply means that I do not trust the game rules, and continual, arbitrary tampering with a hypercomplex, politicized, game state is simply going to create a bunch of pointless drama, while doing exactly nothing to alleviate the (perceived) problem that players are mechanizing certain tasks.

  • I wrote about anti-botting system of old tibia as an example hoping that someone played tibia like maybe 6-8 years ago and that someone is going to understand what I mean. You clearly don't. Nowdays none of the "ingame moderators" is using such system and to be honest IMO tibia would be dead without bots, and gamemasters are fine with botting. But if you really want to see the success of Tibia's anti-botting measures, download Tibia and download the bot, look how developed it is, for example, when gamemaster tp to you and ask a question, bot will answer, send you a message on your phone what happend and eventually do what you programmed in options.

  • lol

So the great argument for these measures is: "Hey, look at Tibia! After years of fighting and enforcing rules against them, the bots there are now so advanced and developed, that they can no longer be caught at all, and everyone has just given up on it!"

    You cannot be serious.

  • That's of course much better idea, but why wouldn't you attack symptoms as well, if it doesn't take a lot of effort?

  • Point precisely being that it is a futile exercise that can potentially devour any amount of effort we throw at it.

At the end of the day players are, and must be, free to provide legal input to the server.

We cannot exercise any fundamental control over how that input is generated.

Bot-generated data does not have any particular and easily targeted profile by which it can be made illegal. It can perhaps be targeted by more heuristic methods of detection, but this simply turns into an arms race between game and bot developers, which ultimately must end in the victory of the latter, because see points one and two.

    End of story, really.

I mean, we could go down this road, with all the bullshit it entails, but I'd really rather just work on the game.

Hello, I just wanted to say hi, and that I'm REALLY excited for Hafen. I've played HnH "on and off" for a few years now, and enjoy it very much. I have a few buds interested, We started a small camp so they can figure out the basics. First day someone dragged a bear back to camp and it ping-ponged back and forth knocking us out. My one friend tried to punch it but we all know how that worked out xD.

I'm happy J + L are still present and working on fulfilling our desires for sandbox elements. Keep up the amazing work guys. Much <3 See you in Hafen!

MusicWarrior wrote:TBH all i want to know from devs, is lp system about which I was asking, I started discussion about bots not with intention to bother you

I will repeat once again, I didn't want to bother you with this, I was curious what other players think about bots. Actually I wouldn't mind if noone of the devs answer me, because, I'd rather have you working on the game instead of speaking with me as well. It's your game and you can develop it in any way you want, so I must respect it or gtfo.

And to make it clear, I am serious, but probably I voice it wrongly. Noone fights with bots in Tibia, not because of how advanced they are, but because bots make this game alive, they could catch them in the same simple way like they did before.

Calm down, I had no intention to piss you off with things which are obvious bullshit for you and probably for older players, but aren't clear from my point of view. Please accept my apologies.

    ...? So bots are good?

Not coming back, no. We deemed it overly simplistic, and it still is.

No, bot's aren't good. I'm writing what tibia players say. I just wanted to write that in the past in Tibia, gamemasters and other moderators were teleporting to players, looking if their gameplay is suspicious (like doing same thing all the time) and asking players some questions to check if there's anyone in front of monitor. That's the easiest way of checking if someone is a bot, and that was used, in the past, in Tibia, somehow worked so I thought that I might write about "old tibia anti-bot system" and see what others think. Didn't want to start a quarrel by all means.

I was pretty sure that old lp system won't be back, a pipe dream, but I was wondering if u are considering any major changes to lp system, or just minor improvements.

Please stop talking and just enjoy the game when it launches in 9 days. You are going to have exactly 0% impact on it and you are taking the attention of the Devs away from important questions by asking dumb questions that have been discussed ad
nauseum for years. Notice that I said please, it's not something I do often. Thanks in advance!
