I think Salem is just another step in development of H&H. Mb not all players will like this evolution, but it`s time for it.

And about timer - i think just site will be avaliable and/or alpha-test ))

Read back through the dev posts in this thread and you'll definitely realize that Seatribe has plans that are much different for HnH than what Salem will end as. HnH will always be a toy box for Jorb and Loftar to try out something different. Salem will need to be a commercial success. Do you really think they're going to get that with a community like on HnH?

As i was able to see through video about Salems - it`s very similar to this game. And i realy can`t understand how community will affect succes of Salem. Actualy it`s own community will be created as soon as game starts. Mb a lot of players (and hope i will be among them) from H&H will try Salem, but there will be a lot of other ppl.

Mb H&H will always be some kind of sanbox, but Salem is what was created on the base of H&H.

And it`s interesting for me how commercial part will be done in the Salem. As i understand it will be F2P game )) Will it be in-game-store or something different - interesting )

I'm not sure you understand quite how integral human interaction is in HnH and Salem. Community is, in many ways, more apart of the game than the physical mechanics due to the close knit nature of how things work in-game and out of game. Crafting, a mutable world, and perma death only further advance the development of community. This is why keeping it an MMO is so vital.

As for the mechanics and structures? How about we see a compiled game and some actual play before we start to judge it. Having a few cosmetic similarities really doesn't mean much. That's like saying every RPG ever that uses Health Points as a measure of HP is clearing ripping off Nethack or whatever came first.

As for the profit system, they announced that a long time ago in a lot of locations -- from interviews to personal discussions, even in their videos and streams. There will be a silver currency system used for trade with the old world. You can earn silver by selling items in-game to the market/players or you can buy them with real money.

I think Teck pretty much hit what I was thinking when I read this post, but I believe it goes a bit farther than how he actually describes it. In many ways the core game concepts define what kinds of players are going to show up and stick around. You can actually manipulate what kind of player base you have by changing some of those concepts over time. (Word of warning: you can just alienate 90% of the gaming population by doing this. Can anyone say "Star Wars Galaxies"?) If this game wasn't an MMO, it'd either be just another crappy simulation or a basic start on a great survival game.

I believe that would be the fore-runner to Dungeons & Dragons (and the name eludes me). :ugeek:

First, if you're replying to what Teck said, quote his post, not mine. Besides, you said the exact same thing he said
