Yeah Jorb, I don't hate you... Just everything you believe in.

@Jorb I just got around to seeing the Feb 7th pic posted. Nice stone knife. :) I like the style of the house but can we have windows? Or at least the option to add them by making glass? Final question what are the bushes with white bulbs in them?

I hate to be a ¦] and bring up the issue of botting again, but I am. Can't the server tell when multiple accounts or clients are logged in at once from the same ip address? Is there no way to limit people to being logged in on one account per IP? This could create unique issues with people living in the same household of course. Or maybe people can trick the system. I'm not sure. I'm just pretty sure theres a way to limit the amount of clients and accounts accessing the server from an ip.
This is just a suggestion that I don't think i've seen posted yet. Maybe if any of you have heard of space station 13 you will understand why I've thought of this. They can tell when multiple people are on the same ip address, and will prompt you to see if you are alting to get an advantage or actually playing with a friend. Jorb and Loftar don't have to be so kind tho they can just kick off both accounts until only one is on or something like that.
Then theres the issue of botting with just one account or client open at a time. Perhaps having a CAPTCHA prompt players every so often could help with this issue. It could prompt players every 30 min for example and allow players 5 minutes to answer it. This would never stop botting completely but it would stop you from leaving a bot running all night or day unattended.

I'm a noob to haven and the forums so have mercy on soul.

No mercy : fixing botting as an exploitation is not possible. No matter how good of an anti-bot system you made, someone will find a way around it and then distribute the bot amongs his piers/buyers/public.
IP limit? -> Proxy
Captcha -> no game does this in general ever, it would cause more irritation than do good. Imagine if you are in the middle of a pvp battle and suddenly a captcha promts and you got a few minutes to type it in, but are in the heat of battle. Welp, rip that guy. You CANNOT stop botting like that. Only way you can is by removing the incentive to do so in the first place :)

I think that, by looking at it as a "percentage" like that, you get the (wrong) idea that it's mostly just about random chance. Whether we actually achieve this or not, I think the optimal solution would be one where the failure of a higher-leveled character to win against a lower-leveled one is fundamentally deterministic and determined by player skill. This is why, as I wrote earlier, like to look at it like the "handicap" option in Super Smash Bros, in that it very certainly and heavily tilts the game in the favor of one player, but just as certainly doesn't determine it from the outset.

I do know what you mean by this and when others say it as well, but I've never quite agreed. From my perspective, the main incentive to bot doesn't normally come from boring or repetitive mechanics though that is indeed a large factor, but rather there is an inherent advantage in automating a task and even if the automation of the task itself is made more difficult, players will still try because the incentive is the advantage you gain over others.

I'm quite sure I could name several games where the mechanics involved in tradeskills and other possibly boring things are made to be the least boring or least repetitive as possible and players still find a way to bot them, not because the task itself is sleep inducing but because it is an advantage over others who don't.

I'd love a form of "maiming" mechanic where even if a lower level couldn't actively BEAT a higher level they could make break an arm or leg, give a concussion etc etc that would at least make the higher level rethink whether to fuck with them in the future. Only have these"skills" or abilities work under a certain amount of stats/skill so that titans wouldn't in addition to all of their "other" advantages wouldn't be allowed to "also" maim lower levels. Call it Dirty Fighting or whatever.

Example: Jackie Chan might be a badass martial arts motherfucker but if 6 guys are attacking him (Outside of the movies, in reality) and one comes from behind and puts a 2X4 to the back of his head badass or no? he's gonna have a concussion.
