Cobalt and MagicMan should focus on this sentence:

Don't judge something you haven't really seen yet.

When will we see it?

obviously someone had to create and edit that video, therefore someone was payed.

but really what is the worst is this "hype" created with the countdown,

oh hey guys look! a countdown. then paradox hands us a piece of poop.

lovely.

That's kind of the point though. They haven't showed us anything. Every single trailer is some generic pre rendered sequence that has nothing to do nor looks anything like the actual game, and the couple of demonstrations I've seen have been very clunky and focused mostly on explaining lore and myth text than showing the meat of the gameplay.

Obviously it's barely in alpha and I'm still very much anticipating the game, but when they put up a timer and release a generic youtube video and pimp a live demo that turns out to be extremely underwhelming then I think it's fair to criticize a little.

I didn't get to actually watch the presentation so you might be right. Heard from other people too that it was a little underwhelming.

Before you get trailer with actual gameplay presentations it will be a while though. As you said the game is barely in Alpha status.

This is little different than any commercial game. Welcome to World of Advertising. You won't get in-game footage until nearly all the graphics are in place (at least no placeholder graphics, anyway) and they have enough things to put together said footage. Since Salem is a commercial game, should you really expect anything different?

As far as the earlier comment on "judging" something we haven't seen... well, we can judge what we have seen. So far what I've seen of witchcraft is very underwhelming. I know there's more to come. I (wrongly) was hoping for another session much like the first where there was a bit more to demonstrate. I would have much preferred them to hold off with it until later when there was a little more information, but I can't fault them for trying to do a little something for Halloween/Samhain/(whatever name you have for the date here).

Also, maybe you misread me, maybe I didn't communicate it well enough, my comments were directed at cobaltjones's post prior to that one about lore and such, not necessarily about any specific mechanics.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I have to agree, I was expecting a lot more from a month long timer then just 45 minutes of video. I was hopping for another Q&A seminar like the last one, as soon as he said that he would not be answering questions my heart sank. D:
