Am I the only one who is getting ridiculously curious as to what the underground levels will look like in that art style??

P.s Add an option to put long life, if not infinite, candles in mine supports, or just make them give off light anyway so we can underground without night vision or having to carry bunches of torches or other things because mining helms are not convenient all the time or possible to those just starting out mining.
and a long dimly lit tunnel of supports would look cool compared to nightvision

Let us reflect upon the good he was able to do during his short time in the hearthlands.
Let us remind ourselves of his bravery and willingness to fight for the safety of his friends!
Let us hope he can surpass his previous achievements in his future lives.

So do you guys plan to only send the client things they're supposed to be able to see, so darkness will actually work (no potential for nightvision mods)?

If not, then I hope you at least succeed in making night time look good instead of just eye-straining.

Seems to me like a lot more could be done for the underground visually speaking. What lives in caverns anyway? Bats, maybe lizards, moles and badgers and other burrowing animals wouldn't be totally out of place, various types of fungi, lichens, etc etc. Considering the amount of time I spent there mining, exploring or just trying to burrow into someones town I'd love more variety. I'd also love to see the inclusion of gemstones/%chance to get them whilst mining, and maybe some form of extended jewelry or gem crafting but I think the general gist of the initial work on 2.0 is to correct design flaws in 1.0/improve graphics and not so much "new content" or systems but I'm just guessing/going on what I've heard so far.
That being said they say they've gone 3D because it allows easier inclusion of new graphics/content so maybe after it releases they will look towards expanding.

My favorite update to the old H&H was the introduction of underground layers that allowed for a proper mining system.
My question is, in this new engine would it be possible to have two "area layers" that comunicate between themselves?

Example: A house and its door is on layer 1, the house 2nd floor and balcony is on layer 2. Can I see people at the house door if im standing in the balcony?

Or would that system be obsolete now that the engine is 3d?

Im asking this because it would make the game more flexible for things like castles, village palisades, etc etc. Maybe even for a crow's nest on a trading barge? ;) ;)

Edit: And like Banok mentioned, would there be any limitation to the ammount of characters per player? In what form (subscription, one time purchase, ip, limited invites)?

Sorry for all the answers, im just so hyped with that screenshot.

>.< I hope night remains almost exactly as it is, only with the dark being DARK to the point of near impossibility to see. And yeah, I hope the night-vision thing gets heavily over-ridden.

As for 'permanent light sources', dear god I hope not. Torches, Candles, etc for the mines would be lovely, with a limited duration like they're supposed to have. (Will make mining a more trying experience).

And the multi-level thing? Yes *PLEASE*, but likely, as he suggested, made irrelevant by the 3d thing.

It wasn't so much about making mining a more trying experience, it was making vanilla client or at least no night vision usable, because it's quite pretty, but too much of an inconvenience currently.

Also gems/expanded jewelry +1

See, the thing is, I *LIKE* our current night , I just wish it wasn't able to be circumvented quite so simply. World 3 I had a policy of always having the roads around our villages lit with torches. Had a group of people who's entire job was being torch-lighters, they'd make them from cast-off linen and set the roads, and light them. Made things quite pretty.

We're all forgetting the most important question - will Hafen use these same forums? I grinded my post count so hard, I don't want to start over from 0.

hafen is just a codename for the project. it is still haven and hearth. there is no reason that they should make a new forum.
