Are you sure you are just mad because you don't have cows?

Bob Doles favorite part of the game is making cheese.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Yep and you can't compare these games, in Don't Starve time is money, Haven is rather slow paced and you don't have to hurry. It is also a MMO, so it is not single-player-related, you can turn off the DS decay by quitting, here you can't.

As for food system...

I've thought about instead of making stat grow instant, make it grow over time. And some sort of "stacking" so that if you eat 10 pieces of cheese you gain 5 str over 12 hours, but if you eat 20 you just gain 10 str over 25(not 24!) hours. Variety will help to fastern the process, but in non-linear way. It makes huge hungering rather pointless, since there is no point to eat all the food at one time, and it is actually better to avoid large stacks. While variety will allow to perform faster than others, IF you have the different food.

Of course all systems has to be further thought about, just what came in my mind instantly.

Anti bot measures like that are just pointless, because people will just make bots that will conform to the new system while at the same time making it more tedious for the players.

That's not anti bot (for anti bot you have to reward non-botting players, and that's a different story), thats more of "realism" stuff, making hearthlings eat by small portions, while still allowing rapid growth of stats IF you have the varied food (also different mods that reduce timers, just like we have pepper for FEP?).

On other hand, we have to think about players that work legit (e.g. cleaning the thicket) and just need to eat something, shall we punish them (well, not punish, but sort of slow down) by making their stat growth slower (a bit, like 10 pcs - 12 hrs, 20 pcs - 25 hrs, 40 pcs - 51 hr etc...)? Actually, WHY NOT? There is a plenty of food and hearthlings eating that roasted cow meat and only this should be responsible for their dull food choice, like in RL when you eat only one thing of food, it gets worse everytime.

Can we seriously all just get this realism stick out of our asses? If you want do all this random shit, you can literally go do it in the best realism simulator out there: life (not my fault of you don't have one, but that's a different story). Please feel free to go pickle your hearts out. I'm not against making systems more complex, but adding a bunch of steps for the sake of "realism" or "adding st00f" isn't going to necessarily make it "fun" or "interesting". It's like IKEA coming out with a "new, better desk" that turns out to be the same desk with 1000 more screws.

That's impressive as Hafen wasn't announced until months into World 7. =)

Well, it was actually first mentioned in the "Salem and Haven" thread when the guys first announced they contracted with Paradox to make a new game.

no, Magicman, he is talking about "hafen" and not "salem". i dont think they mentioned about the whole recoding back then.

the very first time we heard "hafen" was on december 18th, my brothers birthday, 2013, in IRC/global.

They were talking about rebuilding Haven from the ground up back then and using parts of the code from Salem development. That was... three years ago, now? almost four? Sure, the first time that they started talking about actually actively working on it was recently, but the idea has been in their heads for quite some time now, and they've freely discussed what they did have solid in their heads.

And you have to continually adapt, instead of just building your walls/infrastructure and then being mostly safe forever.
