why are some minimaps blank but others are not? I was walking and i entered a blank white spot on the map and then i just walked out of it. Is this due to the new server?

IIRC loftar didn't copy the old minimaps, but once something changes on a map and it gets updated, so will your minimap.

Shouldn't the new have enough horsepower to render a new minimap on the fly in case it's not existing?

server is alot better after the change, me and some mates quit ages ago cos of the lag and now you cant even notice any lag most of the time.

If anyone is still getting lag now, then they either have a shitty computer or they live in Australia.

I'll run a complete remake of all minimaps, so they should be there soon. I just figured it shouldn't be necessary as long as I get the minimaps copied from the old server.

I'm having some trouble with that, however. For some reason, the I/O from the copying process is making the server lag horribly when I try, even when I put the process in the lowest possible ionice slot. I suspect it has to do with BDB (in the server process) using fdatasync to sync log data to disk. I'd like to turn that off, but I haven't managed to find out how yet. (Or rather, I thought I had done that by using the DB_TXN_WRITE_NOSYNC options, but apparently not...)

Does this have anything to do with why the old Cartography maps aren't working? I'd really like mine back.

Friday night, JLo are probably out partying. ;)
