I hate quests in MMO's. They always have a rather large tendency to suck major ass and end up being repetitive. I'm not certain that replacing bear / clay/ loom grinding with quest grinding is going to resolve anything. I'd certainly like to experience a test run of the new system before a major reset if possible.

the lp system is just fine to me even it will take ages (by not hunting) to get a skil to 200 or such.
i think most players dont have much problems with the current lv up system.

that is assuming a number of things about their quest system that they really havent gone into much detail on - mainly that it works exactly the same as quests in other mmos

You realize LP is just a cheap knockoff of XP, right? I wouldn't call it inventive. A lot of this game is inventive, but not LP.

I think Jorb and Loftar have something better planned. Possibly several better things. Possibly too many better things and they need to throw some away. But I'm looking forward to whatever this new system is.
Surprise.

I agree, but it's replacement shouldn't be rushed. Anything that involves luck would be downright horrible, because Lady Luck hates me and I've never won anything in my life. I don't want the RNG to force me to into any single profession.

Jorb said they planned to model it after the FEP system somehow. e.g. Gathering and expenditure of resources.

Well, as long as the results are predictable, I think it's a great idea.

Hmm, you know what might work nice? Buying skills for numen points.

And what difference would that make to the grindfest we have now? Grinding bears to skill farming or grinding items to skill hunting doesnt really matter.

I personally would love a system where you improve the stat according to the task you do, such as farming a field increases your farming, mining and crafting armor and weapons increase smithing, and hunting increases the combat skill you use.
After all, thats exactly how real life works.

Ever wonder if it's all for you
The world I love The trains I hop To be part of The wave can't stop
Come and tell me when it's time to

Ive never played Runescape, but I think that is how Runescape worked.
Do people here have a bad experience with that game?

its not only runescape with such a game play, most games are.
the why i like this lp system, you can do what everything to gain the exp you can assing to what you want.
its kinda boring if you have to do always the same to get better in one skill.
