In H&H when you have your bwall (early game), or L5 bwall, late game, you are invincible.
Nothing comparable with "Don't starve" which is quite the survival game.

I highly doubt any first time DS player would live more than a week, though there is night, food decay, and you don't catch rabbits as you'd pick a branch there.
Food just doesn't pop up from nowhere in this game, and if you want meat you'll have to fight for it, it's not just having a boat, 10 MM and a sling to kill a bear.

Now to be fair I think Don't starve game is fucked up since they added too much things into it.
Also it terribly lacks a multiplayer mode.

I hate to sound like a total noob, but maybe we can get in-game instructions so we don't have to use the wiki for everything? I mean, this game seems impossible to even begin to play without using a wiki or guide. Like, say for example:
Scenario: You get into your first seconds of playing the game.
Problem: You're immediately dropped in with no idea how to play.
Solution: The NPCs could interact with the player and tell them what they can do (i.e, " Are youe male or female?", "What is your name?"

or even:
Scenario: You initiate combat.
Problem: You're about to get your ass kicked.
Solution: You're stopped in your tracks a few feet from the danger zone and a text box appears showing you simple fighting mechanics, BUT ONLY if you have the required moves to protect yourself.

You could also have "do not show me this tip again" checkbox, which can also be toggled from the settings menu. These settings can also work for all characters.

Also, can pathfinding be a feature? Thanks for your understanding.

IMHO, one of H&H best features is exploration logic and discovery.

So no, no tutorial, no achievements, no whatever.
Keep the kids away (even though some found their way in).

True, but it was 2 years ago (age of 14) when I started, but that didn't stop me. Back then I thought, "Man, this game feels a little half-finished", because this game will feel impossible to play (admit it, we all seeked internet help on the basic game instructions) but I still play anyway, because I find this game fun, but confusing and challenging. I still even fail to grasp even the basic fighting mechanics today because of this, even through my experiences of playing this game.

But hey, even everyone's a pro in their own way.

Although I agree on the achievements thing.

What I tried to ask is what Don't Starve does that differs from this, not what Haven does. I'm quite well aware of the latter. :)

Bears can actually swim in real life. So can foxes.

I'm not sure it differs much between the two. Don't Starve is designed to play rapidly with a day taking about 15 minutes (if I recall correctly, maybe as little as 5? been a bit since i've played it) vs 8 hrs, and decay and events occur rapid fire instead of over days or weeks.

To note, several players have reported their games lasting 300+ days and are pretty much self-sufficient via powergaming certain features and probably will never die unless they make some major mistake.

Not to derail, but you should check recent news of beta testing.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
