Could be an interesting feature but I'm not sure that's the direction they'd like to head in. With the intended removal of most fast (instant) travel methods like crossroads, I don't think it is their intention to add a system that would allow for such a safe method of trading and I have very little doubt that they want to do that.

I believe they want to include an element of risk when trading with others and I agree that there should always be one there. While a 100% safe way to trade would be nice, it's not really in the spirit of this game in my opinion.

Yea I agree. Probably we just need safe roads on which only trading carts are allowed :) And they work on milestone based path so you choose your destinatin and travel there automatically for as long as it neds to reach it :)

I've always wanted to be in the escort business
The low life has lost its appeal
And I'm tired of walking these streets
To a room with its cupboards bare

The safe road idea is nice, however there should only be pockets of safety, but still have parts you travel through that aren't safe, so there can be highwaymen!
The pockets could be good places to trade, like a small AI village.

To add to that idea, there should be patches of zone where you can obtain curios that cannot be obtained anywhere else, making the trading from one zone to another worth it.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

It could lead to some interesting scenarios. I hate to give people ideas this early on of how to screw someone over but one I've considered already would be setting up a trade with a village and waiting for them to load the goods and set out on their way at which point you and your band of merry men intercept them and take it all for free after killing them.

As well, this could easily be setup through an alt account (forum pm) or character (in-game message) for essentially the same effect but could prove useful in directing the blame at someone else. Not sure if this would end up being an issue in the long run, perhaps causing all trade runs to become a pick-up the goods sort of thing rather than having the option to deliver, but the concept of it being possible is cool I'd say.

Don't worry, the ability to screw others over is innate ^^

The argument for 2D graphics is simply a matter of taste. Taste is, as always, subjective, so no one is right or wrong. The issue with 2D is that it creates strict limitations on the artist and programmer, so it will unfortunately not be an option. 3D graphics aren't the ideal art style for everyone, and that's fine, but it's a direction we have to live with whether we like it or not. =)

3D graphics can look nice if done right. In most games however as soon as you begin moving you lose most of that niceness. Personally I would rather the time go into game core mechanics than making it pretty. Get it working then dress it up well. :)
