I don't think it's fair to ever link city production and character improvement. No one chips stone, paves, and builds massive fucking brick walls for lp. You do it because your village needs you to help with it or you'll all fail and die. You can claim that you did all you'd like but in those 48 hours where you earned a whopping total of 15k lp, I punched a bear in the throat and earned 18k for hunting for 15 minutes. Congratulations, your 48 hours of work are almost equal to my 15 minutes -- and this is Not a gross exaggeration. Hell, who needs a bear, a pack of deer or some common boar would work fine too.

The point being that the disparity was always too large. For those of us that had to build our villages up from the ground, it is a huge pain in the ass knowing that because you've helped set your kilns up and established trade to get enough metal, clay, and coal to equip everyone with decent tools and gear, you're now about half as strong as anyone else in the village. The old system gimped and punished you for doing any kind of civil work.

Besides the whole village can benefit from the hunter work for example, as they will be getting antlers, tusk and thooth, and can't study more than one at the same time.

Blah blah and now there is a whole new disparity as anyone who spends all their time grinding curios and hunting for bbs for their int and hunting dandys and ladybugs and ants and curio will rocket ahead while everyone else who does infrastructure "civil work" gets not a damn thing for it UNLESS you are given it by others. WHole new grind, same shite , different names, same outcome. Only now the pee-ons are beggers and the curio grinders are the the ones with the table scraps to beg from.

Welcome to your republican fantasy.

How can someone who has played since 2009 say that "civil work" gets you nothing? You're a fucking troll.

Kaios, please read her post very carefully. Civil work is worthless unless you're given it by others. In other words, why do work yourself? Just leech off of others. It's the best way to become strong, clearly.

What a retard fucking viewpoint. Any progress is progress, and if it's slower than getting to a certain point is only more rewarding. Especially when you can say "I didn't have to macro to do this, and I'm still keeping up with most everyone else."

Except that if said progress becomes too slow, or if you hit a wall which prevents you from progressing at all (such as I have), it becomes frustrating to the point of not wanting to continue. I'm sure you know the same feeling when you compare yourself to the botters you so greatly detest.

I never had to macro to do anything in world 4, and keeping up with everyone else, just for the sake of keeping up, is not my idea of fun.

And BTW, telling someone their viewpoint is "fucking retarded" is a very immature way to get people to even consider your opinion. You only show how much of a fool you truely are. I do hope you learn some wisdom in your life before you meet your Maker. Good day to you.

I don't give a shit about Grinders and Bots, they never bothered me, and I never cared about "keeping up with the neighbors" either. So "Learn by doing" was the perfect way to develop my character.

Hey, that serial killer down the street never bothered me, in fact, he used to wash my car. How dare you arrest him! That's what it sounds like to me when people complain that the botters never affected them. It was just a matter of luck whether you were randomly slaughtered by a botted-up asshole.

And I guess it is safe to assume Rhiannon never brushes her teeth or showers, because for god's sake, there's no lp to be gained from it. Seriously though, what did Sodom or Potjeh ever do to you? I remember me and Troyy killing the guys that had raided your village Ravenholm back in world 3. In this very thread, Burgingham gave you some good advice about starting up which you rejected out of hand.

One of the major things that separate players' success is the ability to learn from others. While you are complaining about how things have changed, others are learning and adapting.

Typical Facebook games for example require as major components of success
Aggravate as many of your friends as possible to be your "neighbors" to recieve benefits, bonuses and group circle jerks for items..ect. Refusal to do so = severe lack of progress and even refusal by game to let you advance.
Use time delay actions to recieve game currency/points
replace real time actions with stated time delay actions to avoid bandwidith/server overload issues.
penalize real time actions to psudo force compliance with previous point by making said actions result in account/toon/avatar drain

and that's just a few, how exactly does this "new" gameplay style NOT move dramatically in that direction? And yes, I am seriously asking, both that and for your reasoning as to why you think your hivemind style and hermit/small collective style is so incompatible in a sandbox? I mean we, I, and all the hermits/small collectives I knew were never bothered by your type of play...so what did their type of play do to you guys that was so bad or hampered your playing?

While I disagree with her accusations, her description of the game as it now stands is the exact same as I have encountered.

World 4 was the most perfect game I had ever found (not completely perfect, but I digress), how is it that world 5 can be the exact opposite?

The absolute LAST thing I want to do is wait for timers to run down just so I can get the essential skills so I can DO the things I WANT to do. At least in World 4 I could actively WORK to accomplish the goals I set in-game. Crafting trinkets and toys or trekking across the world in search of high quality materials to use for said trinkets and toys or various otherwise "useless" items is NOT how I want to spend my time playing.

Signed.

Claiming that (silent) majority is OK with changes is wrong. Not saying it's false, it's just wrong to claim anything. I was one of them and I am not OK with it.
I am not having the fun I had in w4. Curiosities make me much more obsessed with LPs, that is something I did not experience in w4. Having to actively look for them and craft them every 1-2-3 hours is not a good thing, it's forcing me to do things I don't want to do and it is just as meaningless as grinding buckets.
