Yes, it fails in every way, but I remembered that they had stated the world size there and couldn't remember where it was originally stated by Jorb, so just went with that.

That's cause they're pulling it out of their ass.

"couldn't remember". I Do remember that it was stated by Jorb somewhere, but the thought of going through all the videos and press releases did not appeal to me, but for you I shall deign to do such. Be back whenever my computer succeeds in loading all of them so I can go through.

See, told ya it was stated somewhere else that I remembered reading it http://pc.ign.com/articles/116/1167264p1.html

Of course, they stated a far more impressive 25x25km which was a number I was half-remembering. Of course, I doubt we'll see anything as awesome as Daggerfall size. But I doubt we could find the server hardware to handle 487K worth, and if we did I'd have to kill Jorbtar the second I wanted to trade with my "nearby" neighbors...

Edit: Whoops, didn't notice I was on my alt, whatever.

Which is the size the hearthlands currently is. See http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Cartography. I wouldn't take that as absolute word, though. And as big as Daggerfall was, there have been much bigger game worlds out there.

Please be a good author and reporter and site your sources.

FYI, w3 was 9x9 or 11x11 supergrids. I can never remember which.

Salem's current world is humungous. That's all I have to say on the matter.

I sited both of my sources though... So I don't see how I failed in that aspect. Yes I didn't find the oldest point at which it was stated and cite that, most notably because that involves loading videos and watching them which can take Quite a while for my crap computer to do.

from said wiki page:

How big is the world?

Bjorn Johannessen (Creative Director) has said that each world will be approximately two-square-km in size with each tile representing one square-metre. This means the worlds are going to be very big.

When asked whether he was worried about players filling up the world with useless buildings are using up all the construction land he said he wasn't worried. Not only would the community manage nuisance-builders, the world is simply too big for that to happen.

First, 2 square km would only be about 1.4 km per side or about 1400 tiles at 1 sq m tiles. That's pretty puny for more than a few dozen players. The actual size is more likely to be 625 sq km (25000x25000 tiles at 1 sq m tiles--based on a HnH supergrid of 5kx5k tiles) at a minimum. Second, I see nowhere on that page with links. Nobody can't help your computer is crappy. What is it? a P3? Complete lack of RAM in it? Browsing too many adult web sites and pick up a few viruses? Poor excuse for not providing links. If you're going to provide quotes on a wiki, they should be sourced, always. That includes where the source can be found. At least give the reader an idea of where a statement was made such as "Bjorn stated in a Q&A session in September, 2011 on twitch.tv." Take a lesson from Wikipedia on that.

magicman i don't think this dude is the wiki author (who is the only person that can edit that wiki, hence "fuck that wiki")

ps. loftar told me that salem was currently 25k x 25k tiles. that won't necessarily always be the case.
