I'm curious as to what makes you think this. If you've read any of the game background, you'd understand the sources of inspiration for the game: Lovecraft, colonial America folklore, etc. Take that along with the computationally intensive gameplay (similar to HnH), and you get a game most kids are going to avoid. Add in the permadeath, PvP, and griefer factor, and you get a game no sane parent should be letting anyone under 18 play.

Which brings up a point: will Paradox (since they're publishing) have any kind of tolerance for the phallic-obsessed and stop them from carving pictures in the landscape? International laws on what's pornographic vary by country. I believe Age of Conan requires to you be 18 to play, no ifs, ands, or buts.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

It was mainly the look of the character, it just reminded me of kids games, as for painhertz you just avoided my question (i asked why). There was no need for people to rage, i just suspected since Salem looks like a kids game and that it might be toned down.

EDIT-
reading comprehension impaired
You then, i asked why, not if it would be harder but why would it be harder to survive.

It's an art style called "caricature." Yes, it's a bit cartoony. There's a lot better explanations on the internet (like Wikipedia) than I can give. I think it fits the game concepts very well and for those that can't accept it... well... (Look at the eyes of the characters. There's something malignant in the guys and the girls seem to know a bit too much. Maybe that's just me.)

I think the art style is suppose to be cartoony.... It suppose to be eerie with a nice little person with an almost evil background... its actually fits very well with theme. Its very creepy/ :|

also, you should be aware that this video is over a year old and the character models have changed significantly

still a lot of outdated placeholder graphics in this one but the character art is correct (unless they plan on changing it again, which i am not aware of any plan to do) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPI6z1Ts1nk
