I don't give a shit about Grinders and Bots, they never bothered me, and I never cared about "keeping up with the neighbors" either. So "Learn by doing" was the perfect way to develop my character.

Hey, that serial killer down the street never bothered me, in fact, he used to wash my car. How dare you arrest him! That's what it sounds like to me when people complain that the botters never affected them. It was just a matter of luck whether you were randomly slaughtered by a botted-up asshole.

One of the major things that separate players' success is the ability to learn from others. While you are complaining about how things have changed, others are learning and adapting.

and of course that serial killer much have cheated at real life?

What's the difference between being killed by a botter and being killed by someone who put in the time to raise those stats and skills himself? The end result is the same: your death.

I'm not saying botting wasn't a problem, only that this new LP system is no longer fun for me, and apparently many others, and the change won't affect botters much anyway, they'll simply adjust their macro scripts to optimize the building and swapping of curiosities to maximize LP gain more then humanly possible. Just as they have always done.
It may slow them down a bit more then bucketting was, but they'll still be the powerhouses they've always been.

One more thing about this new change: since there is a limitless cap, those who started playing immediately after the world change, will still have an immense advantage over anyone and everyone who starts playing in the future, in fact I believe the advantage is even greater now then it was back then. Those who are able to advance as a group, given enough time without a death (which time is increased since everyone else is still scrabbling over trying to figure everything out), will eventually have enough time spent on quality curiosities that no one will ever be able to rival them despite how hard they may try.

Jorb and Loftar won't change the system back soon, not tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow and certainly not today. Just play the game (or not) but stop nagging about it.
Try to make the best out of it. After two days I got yeomanry and my claim is up so I don't care anymore if things go slow or not. As long as people can't steal my stuff I am fine with this.

All this hatred around here is really annoying.

Maximizing LP gain by using a bot to switch in curios might mean that you work through a couple of extra curios/unit of time. This quite something different from being able to gain 1 million LP per day by having a bot doing serpentine mining for you 24/7.

The real upside of this system, however, is that it removes the poor incentive of being rewarded for digging a hole and then being rewarded again for filling it back in. The fact that it also makes botting less profitable is merely an upside -- albeit an important one.

Actually, corporations need more money from everyone, since you seem to like dealing in technicalities.

EDIT: Might I add, this is now possibly the most impressive rail disaster in history.

The difference is that a person who had to actually work to get where he was is much less likely to go on a killing spree because they will care more about what they worked toward. Also, when it is harder to game the system, it is easier for people who don't bot to defend themselves.

I fear that you didn't exactly measure the power of bots.

Basically, last version, bots were used to maximize LP gain. However, now that this isn't so profitable, they can be used for other purposes. Examples ?
-Building : It's an activity that isn't rewarding at all. Having a bot that will take bricks from a crate and build a brickwall, or pave roads, etc. isn't really hard to do.
-Harvesting plant fibres, straw or any other basic ressources isn't very hard to do aswell.
-Mining is still not very attractive to players, and can already be boted, as you know.
-Etc.

This update only removed the incentive of directly boting for LPs. But unless every curio is very easy to come by (which isn't really the case as I experienced), multiplying the amount of chances to harvest one curio will still be profitable LP-wise. Besides, your game is basically about time spent. Once you have a couple humans to schedule the community's advance and take care of business relations, the growth of a village is a linear function of manpower. Therefore, bots lost none of their power in my opinion, they just need a bit more time for their coders to adapt.

Any person that didn't understand that this game is all about manpower only sugarcoated with a bit of scheduling will have a bad surprise as bots improve.
