let us all take a moment remember and honor trisby, the true desident of Tris, who was last seen in all white walking into a river with her beloved sledgehammer in her hands. May she find honor and glory in the next life

Well servers are shutting down so I guess that means somethings happening.

Servers literally just shut down. Now the waiting really starts.

And up!

It does.

522 & counting, dear lord...

Loftar or Jorb, do you guys have a graph showing the amount of players in function of time?

Shouldn't the new have enough horsepower to render a new minimap on the fly in case it's not existing?

I'll run a complete remake of all minimaps, so they should be there soon. I just figured it shouldn't be necessary as long as I get the minimaps copied from the old server.

I'm having some trouble with that, however. For some reason, the I/O from the copying process is making the server lag horribly when I try, even when I put the process in the lowest possible ionice slot. I suspect it has to do with BDB (in the server process) using fdatasync to sync log data to disk. I'd like to turn that off, but I haven't managed to find out how yet. (Or rather, I thought I had done that by using the DB_TXN_WRITE_NOSYNC options, but apparently not...)

If i may ask: what FS are you using, with what mountflags and through what kind of abstraction layers (MD and what level, LVM, etc?) ?

And out of curiosity: why are you using BDB ?
