It's just "stop liking what I don't like" syndrome. Not too mention it's about 2 weeks outdated as the pony spam trolls have faded out now.

Swastikas are cool because they represent power and eternity.

The original svastika power was "life, happyness, a symbol of joy"

BUT

The men story is made of Good and Blood and that symbol is now FullyBlood. 99% of the people that uses it don't know his original (and peacefull) meaning and they don't care that meaning.
So, just better don't use a symbol that have lost his meaning. or at last, don't use it and then hide behind the "i mean the original ones, trololol".

Somewhere in this forum i saw this poor try. It don't work.
Svastika NOW have a different meaning than before and that's the Present Day.

I first learned this when I was learning how to write, but it very much applies to symbolism as well.

Your intentions are meaningless. Ultimately what your writing means is what a person interprets it to mean. There is no merit to ever saying "You don't understand what I meant" because the frank truth is writing has nothing to do with you anymore. Words take up a meaning of their own in the eyes of the reader, and that meaning is the one they receive.

With regards to this: Ultimately something's offensive if someone considers it offensive, not if it was meant to be offensive.

Good point. Also it depends.
A prikly person is easibily offended but this don't mean that more than half of the language need to be changed for that single person. (Also, remember that often be offended so easily means that ther's a main problem on that person)
As always is a matter of "half and half"

Don't joke with others pain is a good start. Don't Troll about a world indignation is too.
Understand in a more realistic way what hurt and what not.

I'm that kind of people that prefer Talk in a frankly way, instead of set up a more "nice" argument to a void a fight. I'm ok with a fight if this mean that i'm honest in what i say.
And this could hurt someone. If this happen i'll say "sorry" and i'll try to explain my reasons.

But be frank have nothing to do with "use symbols to light up peoples indignation and then hide behind the gentle lie of "that's not what I mean""

I don't fully agree the "learning how to write". To me, is almost a lie afterall, 'cuz if i don't want to say a think in that way, i'll not say it in that way. Is like change a draw 'cuz my draw is not welkome. But y draw is my soul, and so are my words, so i'll change just what i know can hurt people and i don't mean to hurt :3

If a meaning can change why can't it change back? Maybe it just needs to be forgotten for a few generations and rediscovered.

Your intentions matter in cases like these. That very symbol has one particular meaning in the western world. It doesn't really matter what some indian monks used it for. Our cultural history isn't as close that it would warrant people recognizing a svatiska as anything else than a nazi symbol. There is not really any room for personal interpretation about the symbol itself here. :P

The real question is therefore why a western person uses it in the first place (= his intention). I have not seen angry reactions about these symbols here so far. It can be a matter of personal offense but for most people it will probably just leave a strange taste and confusion that provokes further response. Either pondering about (what is wrong with) the person who did it (consensus in society is after all that it is a bad symbol) or just trying to ignore it.

That should also adress BTaylors question. It never had a different meaning for us. As such it cannot return to a past meaning. The meaning can of course change over time anyway. There is just no point in defending a person who uses it because he knows what he is doing for whatever reasons are driving him.
