Paradox posted a thread about signing up for Alpha testing a few days ago. I know because I was one of the first to sign up. There were only 26 views when I signed up. It is closed now after hundreds of views. They are only taking 50 on this trip. They have not said how they will be picking those 50. They will be emailing all applicants in the next week. Other than that, there is no word on more alpha testers in the future or when the closed beta will begin. Hope that clears up some of the misunderstandings.
