Also, there is nothing wrong with expressing opinions or concerns, they are after all replacing our favourite toy with another one, hopefully it will be an improved version but there are no guarantees, not everyone shares the blind faith you seem to have. Just look at the reaction when it was announced ppl won't be able to start up together, lol.

It isn't really blind faith although there's certainly nothing wrong with that. I am in agreement with Painhertz. Didn't your mother ever try to get you to eat something that you had never tried before and she would say something along the lines of, "Don't knock it till you've tried it!" The same principle applies here and don't forget you're talking about the same developers who created this game which you so thoroughly enjoy. I think it's perfectly reasonable for everyone to apply a little "blind faith" if they want, I have no doubt they learned many lessons of what to do and what not to do through Salem as well.

Yes, maybe I worded it badly, ofc, there is a little bit of blind faith in me too, for the same reason you stated, that the devs made this version which I love, I do want the new version to be wonderful and succeed this and ofc I am looking forward to it and have supported some of the changes, but, I am also wary and I don't see the point of hiding it .... the point I was trying to make is that there is nothing wrong with questioning things either or having doubts, once the game is here the time for concerns will have passed.

That's fair and you're right we can and should be questioning things but I really don't believe that means as soon as a playable version is released that the time for concerns has passed. I mean, we do have a fairly good idea of how these two developers operate at this point now but I don't think anything is set in stone yet. They are still formulating many ideas even.

The testing phase will be just as important as speculation is now but you can't have your cake and eat it too you guys, either we can't discuss mechanics in this thread that we have no real idea about in a civil manner and make suggestions based on what we know and our own ideas which is what we have been doing and what some people seem to have a problem with, yet others think this is now the one and only time to discuss mechanics before the game is released? Which is it???

Re: Stockpiles

When building, can players draw materials from stockpiles through walls? What is their range?

How do stockpiles interact with claims?

Currently, stockpiles are only used for building at very close range (I don't remember exactly, but about a tile), so walls or claims shouldn't be an issue unless you really try to make it one.

From the looks of it, you cannot unless you get lucky and find them.

But then, how useful can stockpiles really be for building if you have to constantly pick up their contents and move them somewhere else?

Can you put materials in a wagon or minecart or something to act as mobile stockpiles?

I was also wondering:
How hard would it be to add thin shallows across rivers to the map generation allowing players to cross rivers that helps them get to their friends since there is no oathing? This will also help with traveling with horses since I doubt you'll be able to put a boat in a horse or a horse in a boat.

You make a world map and continuously upload to it till you successfully can stitch a large enough map to find each other. Or hope someone else makes a world map for you.

If you don't know how to make such a world map or know someone to aid you along making one, your chances of finding your friends is small. If the world is as large as this one then I doubt you will find your friends before you quit.
