I think many of us fail to appreciate the fact that electricity and current technology IS magic. Show any of the stuff today to someone of the past and we could be magicians. So why not add simple electricity and stuff if you plan on adding "magic" and keeping it "real"? Something like leyden jars or a primitive object that stores electricity like the Bagdad battery? We have gold, silver, and iron, I wouldn't be too out of the question.

i would be extremely disappointed if everything in haven 2 isn't shaped like a penis, for example

While I think this is a different issue from the one you responded to, it is true and I agree that it's not a nice thing. Do note, however, that the only reason that was so in Salem was because the admiral's uniform accepted more slots than the other clothes, which has been fixed since MM took over. Now people can wear almost anything, and I do have to say that I think that is taking it to the other extreme. While it's nice to be able to choose from a wider range of clothing, I do like in Haven that a character's clothes somewhat reflect the type of character it is or at least just what they're doing at the moment. I'd like it if we were able to find a good middle way between the extremes that Haven and Salem currently exhibit.

Clearly, this is the least thing you have to worry about.

Everyone and his grandmother wears dhelms and merchant robes. In Salem it was the admiral suit and cthulu masks (when I played). That stuff may not be overly epic and but it's equally fancy in terms of game-progress and showing off. I find it rather boring to see everyone look the same. It would be nice if several comparable pieces of clothing with different styles exist in the new Haven. This way people won't all look the same once the game is out for a few months.

Well, I hope that 3D will alow more frequent addition of items in the game, so I supose at the begining there will be only 1 end game suite, but more could be add later ...

"So you press this button - which by mysterious ways glows in the dark by the way -, and a giant machine located far away, constructed by people with arcane knowledge, converts water and wind into invisible energy, transports that energy for a thousand miles to your bedroom, and makes this sealed vacuum-filled balloon of glass light up. It also brings life to this box-like artifact, which then connects to invisible waves in the air, called the internets, which allows you to see and hear far beyond what is possible by mortals, and even talk to beings that do not exist in this world".

Oddity, you up to the challenge? :D

I've actually been meaning to do something like that. I want to make a searchable list of things the devs have said, with tags so you can search for their thoughts on a topic, eg. Hafen, combat system, etc. Haven't done anything yet, though. Best thing you can do is just skim over my Hafen thread.

If you don't know how to make such a world map or know someone to aid you along making one, your chances of finding your friends is small. If the world is as large as this one then I doubt you will find your friends before you quit.

Are we unable to party other players? I know the party arrow bug is annoying (especially since there is no way to know that the arrows are usually broken, unless you've read it on the forums or wiki), but you can still click another player's party portrait to figure out which direction to go. And hopefully they work out the arrow thing in the new server/client.

As for summoning, we're strongly considering changing that to a system where one simply cannot log off as long as there are clues left to crimes that you committed.

I'm not sure if XMPP notifications were a good thing, but they sure were fun :)

A bit of trigger based features wouldn't hurt. Simple things that could be used around your base to liven things up a bit for the building aspect. Examples such as flagpoles that you can raise or take down, bells that will make sounds as you walk past them, trigger plates that signals if someone have recently walked past this point, trap wires that triggers gates or other nifty gadgets.

@Oddity - Currently you do need a HS to party someone from afar. Remember that you can't memorize someone from afar at all.

I think smarter organized factions will forcefully travel to one of the corners of the world, it sounds like the center of the map will be heavily under populated by larger factions while the boarders will be the only way to meat up and organize bases.

Edit: unless loftar was tricky enough to make the map circular as in you go left you end up on the right side of the map as you cross the world border.

Without hearthsecrets I'm not sure if we can friend other players without meeting them in person first or having them described to us by someone else who has met them. That makes partying with them difficult.
