They already published half of the code. Client!
With reverse engineering you someone could make new server code within maybe 1 year? But there is no point if one server is already written. It just need more brains and hands to work on. Fresh ideas and more stuff, more bug and balance fixes...

Developers would get at least 400$ per month but there is more powerfull people who can realy afford V.I.P. there is 600+ hearthlings playing this game.

This is a horrible idea, it creates a gap between premiums and freebies that will cause a rift and kill the game. Most games that do something like this die inevitably. A more viable idea might be to be able to purchase like custom looks (4 dollars and you can make a dryad) or town leaders could purchase premium building skins for their towns. Cosmetic stuff tends to generate cash flow with out upsetting balance.

Games being ruined by Limitations WITHOUT V.I.P. Like that guy has giant sword that looks like dragon and simple player cant get it because its V.i.p. and I suggest no limitations but addons.Like V.I.P. Gets more LP or Numen points and etc
Damn boars, always trying to eat me

HnH is their game too. It's not open source project and they have no obligations to anyone. The game is made the way they want and they don't want anyone using their code.

Sure, anyone can produce similar game, with similar ideas. And even copyrights wouldn't stop anyone from doing it. But to do this someone has to write code from the scratch.

1 euro per month? I don't think that would pay server's upkeep. And surely not provide any income to devs. And they would need this income to provide sufficient quality of service.

I don't even understand what your problem is and what do you expect. Devs don't want to share code, their work, with anyone. HnH is not their idea for future, Salem is. They have no obligations to run HnH at all, especially since they are not paid for it. Just deal with it. Thank them that you can play their game and stop making requests.

And what other MMO games are you talking about? Most private games / servers barely can handle more than 200 people. Full scale games like WoW have whole server clusters with best equipment, which cost thousands of dollars to keep it running monthly. How can you compare that to cheap server hosting?

I'm not making requests I'm just writing criticism... Don't know what criticism is? Check wiki.

Also subscription could also be 5€, still nice price for a good work.
What I want to tell you is that if this game doesn't start evolving then it will eventually die and it is shame because it is good one.

yes other servers can hold up to 5000+ people BUT:
do you know another game wich you need to count so much? there are at least 3 counting to make a simple stone axe...
look on quality formulas of some stuff or so often used defence bar.
i don't think any server would handle 5000 h&h players even if it is in 2D...
ONLY way is multi channels like in Metin...

You don't even need client code and reverse engineering to write your own server or client. Packet monitoring and learning op-codes is enough.

And sure, I can already imagine people willing to spend a year writing their own HnH server to take over some indie game. It does happen with paid games like WoW, Lineage and similar. Still, it's nothing compared to the real product.

And even if someone decides to do it - why not create your own game from scratch if you are going to recreate whole server infrastructure and code anyway?

What's your point exactly?

It is evolving in Salem. Salem is the next evolution step of HnH. Many of HnH's ideas and some art will be used in Salem. That's what developers decided.

Also, your criticism is in the form "they should (not) do something" which implies request, if you want to go into semantics.

Additional LP inherantly makes a char stronger and better than their enemies. What you propose is that people who pay more get a clear advantage (In this case a character would be 200 percent better than his fellows at say, melee combat ant the like, by paying for it. It'd kill the game for all but the hardcore.

Proof or not, they need copyright to make it property. If you make something you need to go and declare you made it and pay just like for patent but much less. Then you get a paper that this is you work. Until then everyone can copy it and if you get copyright after they already made copy you won't make anything against them.

Yes my point was they could retroactively claim it and get paid.

just so you know this is not the critiques forum. this is announcing not whinging.. pointless whinging as nothing will change simply because you want it to, you cannot pressure the devs into doing this. the only things done are clientside or what they want.

please stop complaining :|
