Monday Morning Coders are not nearly as cool as Monday Morning Quarterbacks.

Are you referring to the block cache? In that case, you can rest assured that the minimaps would be the least problem; though there are lots of them and they consume a lot of hard drive space, the bandwidth used by them (both through the Internet line, through the block cache and through the ATA link) is very small compared to most other operations.

To be honest, I don't. I haven't discovered anything that would indicate that the game server itself would have any memory leaks of notice, and I've never seen any other process on the system that seems to experience it either. The virtual memory usage of the account server could be improved, but it doesn't matter a whole lot since its actual RSS is very small, and it doesn't seem like it does a lot of paging either.

Any particular reason why I suddenly can't connect, even if the server is up?

EDIT: Super lag with 128 hearthlings. Hmmm...

Maybe some sort of data accumilation resulting in a bigger or slower loop; for example the map item handler, or the renewal of any other array might cause loads of lag when the cpu usage is fairly high.

i have made a little discovery of my own, don't know if ya already know, but i would like to post it anyway.

If you get stuck in a lag spike or something, so it more or less stops reacting, and when you then just close the window and start it again, then this CAN happen.

you are still logged in or you can't connect to the server: the java application or the java installed on your pc are still getting ready (if you just rebooted | or |the java application/server are still seeing your connection as active/your login as active, so you have to wait untill it times out and then you can relogin.

AFTER YOU ARE LOGGED BACK IN/LOGGED IN:
You might have a lot of reaction time/lagg ingame, this goes away little after little over the following 1-20min after you are back into the game.
> NOTE: This can also happen if you just have logged in!<

ps. i am running windows 7 64bit, i can run Firefox with over 20 taps open at once, and WoW open at the same time without lagging, so i do not think this is a thing related to my own connection or hardware, which is how i suspect it can happen to anyone.

PPS, admin, where do you reside with the server in the world?
