If i remember well, by then there wasnt germans there, even the natives are not the same ones. Teutons, francs and other tribes crossed the continent in the middle age conforming the actual inhabitants of half europe. German is a XX century word.

"The concept of Germany as a distinct region in central Europe can be traced to Roman commander Julius Caesar, who referred to the unconquered area east of the Rhine as Germania, thus distinguishing it from Gaul (France), which he had conquered"

Your memory sucks, try 2000+ years.

Are u calling germans to all the tribes that has been there? is that?

Ur right in the word. lel :)

Edit: Borka, im more like a Phoenician than a Visigoth xD

My Ancestors i.e. the Chauci, Frisii for sure never called themselves germans or germanics nor teutonics - there hasn't been a Germanic sense of identity - it was a heteronomy that prolly was taken over later by some and then spread ...

Germans were already there when the Romans tried to conquer the region. They said they gave up because the weather was terrible and the natives were too resistant to cultural assimilation (and also refused to die easily and so on). Then came the Migration Times and all the major tribes relocated so it's a mess to trace who was where.

Romans already used the name Germania for the region, but that's not what the natives called themselves. Country names can be messy, and even though Gaul wasn't Germanic at Caesar's time, it was later renamed to France, because of presence of the Franks there - a Germanic tribe.

Those tribes didnt had any country to serve or defend, things were quite different back then. Calling them germans its somethings us, outlanders, do. Damn, i wish i could explain it better, or with less alcohol... damn jorb, that was suposed to give me int ¬¬

Might have to start playing again when they update the game. I quit forever ago (2010 I think) after some bullshit went down, then for a long time I wanted to start back up but wtf would be the point in getting in except at the server restart? Then they never restarted it :S Ofc even when they do I imagine I've forgotten so much that I'll have no chance to keep up with everyone else...

So, how has haven changed in the last fivish years? I'm guessing not much... god I wish some devs who cared more about their game or had more time to develop it would make one with all the craft and construction and permanence features hnh has... and maybe tack on a decent combat system to boot. ¦] If only one of these teams making one of these neat new action MMOs that don't have the craptastic combat would rip off all haven's other systems. I don't care about the graphics but god the combat sucked ass, and they never updated even after that other game that was just like hnh flopped and they shoveled it off on some other unlucky devs.

Holy shit, you are the embodiment of every newbie stereotype we make fun of. I --- I didn't think someone like you actually existed. It was all supposed to be an exaggeration.

Hehe, forgot how friendly and mature and totally non-fanboyish this community was  The only way it could have been better was if your comment had come from someone who just started playing in the past year or so. Well if you can't admit that this game has some serious flaws and that j&l really don't seem to have much time for it (maybe that's changed in the past couple of years?) or take it too seriously, then I guess that's on you. Anyway, not gonna get into another hnh flamewar, I'll check up occasionally and maybe join back in when they restart. Have fun being a cliche.

Edit: btw, I can only assume that you're calling me noobish because I criticised the combat. I remember that used to be a big no-no to the fanboys. But the fact of the matter is that MMO combat sucks donkey dong, and Haven has DUMBED DOWN mmo combat. Again, maybe that's changed, but not judging by the occasional video I've looked at over the past couple of years. Quite frankly the only reason the mmo combat exists as it does is the severe limitations of the internet when it comes to gaming. Good combat (let's avoid saying action combat, because I know that's a bad buzzword for you types) always more or less worked on a small scale, but not so much with thousands of people on one server from all over the world at any given time. But let's face it, the internet backbone has improved by leaps and bounds since point-click-make a sammich combat was first envisioned, as has the art of writing efficient netcode. There's no real reason for such boring and almost entirely stat-based battles anymore, except I suppose ease of development and cheaper servers per capita.

Or I suppose you could have just been jumping on me for criticising the game in any way, which has always been a big thing here. I never honestly got how people could be so fiercely devoted to this game when it's so obvious that it's not even that big of a concern to the devs themselves. I mean, I get it, it's for the same reason that fanbois and brand lovers everywhere get so tied up in it. Their self-worth is tied up with the things they decide to spend their time and money on, but damn. To go so far as to think that hnh combat doesn't suck on an epic scale is a bit extreme.

This has nothing to do with being a fanboy. That's the embodiment of everything we make fun of. People go into a permadeath game, take a loss, quit expecting things to be different next world, and then never get better because they don't play or learn the game. It's supposed to represent a short-term vicious cycle as players just quit for good, not actually be someone who comes back lurking perpetually expecting things to be more suited to them.

Have fun being a cliche.

There is a sweet irony here.

You've ended yourself in this situation. Your posts reveal you didn't even bother to take a minute to browse the announcements page to see if anything was new and that you are speaking entirely out of your ass. Nice job.

H&H combat is unique, beautiful, and elegant; anyone who thinks otherwise can go fuck themselves.
Of another era.
