Meanwhile, some countries mix both and get fairly good results. Hail Sweden & Finland (also, their girls are crazy).

Some swedish friends already tried it, turns out they weren't aware of how cool their system was. I mean, I know that there are still lots of problems to be solved there, but the amount of win in their social and political system is really sizeable. I can't predict how well it would translate to countries with larger populations and/or larger population/area and/or lower education to start with tho.

The swedish female sample was maybe not big enough to guarantee epicness tho.

The majority of Swedes are prozaic automatons who use their oblivious and blissful contenence to hide millenia of grey misery.

Their blood has also been slowly replaced with yogurt.

Combination of schoolsystem effectiveness and the ability for as many as possible to benefit from it.
I'd add the lack of strong beliefs (not talking about religion) within the society (I guess we got a good exemple of how the belief in capitalism can alter one's judgement on this thread :p).

Well for one thing, school systems are not the only way for one to become educated. Also, people for the most part have strong beliefs about something, even if that means having strong beliefs about not having strong beliefs. I guess you mentioned that to suggest that the people in that society don't have strong beliefs and are thus open minded or some such?

Better register as Republican, maybe it's not too late to get your own fief.

So you think Big Business is corrupt?
And why don't you think the Government can't be even more corrupt?

Big Business can't tax > 50% of your income (If you live in New York) and then spend it on getting itself re-elected to keep you in a state of dependency on Federal Aid while they live as much if not more lavishly then the Big Business you so despise.

I'm saying the governor will appoint his cronies as financial managers (aka lords) of towns so they can tithe him with the part of money they'll syphon out of those towns.

Ah, so that's what you mean. I think you're getting the Republicans and the Democrats mixed up there. It's unions who are in league with Democrats and siphon Union Dues off to help Democrat Elections. The only Financial Zars I'm aware of are the ones Obama brought into the government with him. Yeah Businesses contribute to Candidates that will favor their business, but they don't siphon monies from other people for it.

Neither is perfect, however, Capitalism is the lesser of the two evils. It allows people who work hard to get ahead...

Or it allows people to work hard to get $6 an hour and still lose their house with 2*2 part-time jobs, because their parents weren't rich enough to pay them school.

But it doesn't stop those same people from starting their own business to get ahead, or getting school loans/grants to educate themselves instead of using their parents' money.

How is it that some very successful people have been completely bankrupt before they became successful?

And an example of how belief against capitalism can alter another's judgment. ;)
