For one or even a few you don't need a good schoolsystem. But if you want a working democracy, massive access to education is one of the prerequisites in my opinion.

Yeah, this was mostly about having an open mind, and to not side blindly behind someone because you don't like the other side. Having a democracy that keeps reelecting a group that doesn't desserve because you fear/hate the other side doesn't really work.
