For the sake of Jorb and Loftar I sincerely apologize that this completely free, ALPHA version of a game that is at best a hobbie of the two developers crashes sometime. Your refund is in the mail, have a great day Sir!

are you planning to donate a server in the UK?
AFAIK Loftars was looking to have a colocationed own server in Stockholm (so that he has personal access) - prolly it won't help much to have the server in the UK instead of where it's now (Germany)

guess a rented server would be about 70 - 100 UK pound / month

borka, i dont mind where the server is, i wouldnt be planning to visit it i was just thinking a full serviced option might help with maintenance and repairs, this would reduce downtime,

my thoughts are if each of the 1400 users were to donate just $0.50 per month that would raise $700 per month for a dedicated server, i understand a lot of people cant donate but even 1/3 of this amount should be enough to get us a fully serviced rented server and i would be happy to donate this much regularly for the server to stay operational.

the main problem is when you begin to take money as some sort of payment for services rendered. . . a whole nother ball of worms.

When people start to pay regularly, people also begin to feel entitled. They feel that the game devs owe them something (As is evidence with the Salem community. The Dev's work on their game almost exclusively for 2 1/2 years, and they flip the fuck out the SECOND they hear that Jorb and Loftar are working on Haven, saying they should pay attention to THEIR game, not their little pet project, because you're getting paid to work on Salem!)

When you start putting money into equation, it becomes less of a labor of love. When I get back to work, of course I plan on donating, because I love this game and I know every little bit helps. There shouldn't be a rhyme or reason to you supporting the devs. If you love the game/s they make, why not donate anyways, not for any specifics, but to show your support and faith in them.
