Dropping down to 5x is a good start, but I'd really like to see some mechanism by which I can consume as much food as before the change. I'm the designated crafter in my village, pumping both dexterity and psyche, and it's going to take me 5x as long to eat the food i need as before.
It's been stated that you want to prevent macroing not by authority/action (banning macroers, etc.) but by making macroing an undesirable behavior -- in other words, by making having fun and playing the game more beneficial to your character than leaving a macro running. Previously I would hunt, forage, farm, etc. and watch my hunger happily decrease so I could work on my huge supply of dex/psy food. Now it takes me 5 times as long -- I feel like I can't really get anything done when I play. In an hour of play at less-than-full stamina (i.e. hunger always decreasing) at the old 10x rate I was able to eat two pieces of chicken and 3 chantrelles (11% hunger), for a whopping 50 FEP.
It's been stated before that a huge portion of the game was about securing the foods you wanted, and in the best possible quality and largest amounts, to enable you to build your character's stats. Making easy, filling foods more plentiful is a much better solution than reducing the amount we need to eat, because it means people who don't have a surplus of stat food don't die or spend all their time gathering, and people who are eating for stat gain can still power through their food supply at a reasonable speed.
5x is still too much, or at least make water reduce fullness at the same rate it did previously.
