Anything a journalist says about Salem should probably be taken with a grain of salt. First, we are having to take the word of someone who has briefly seen the game and maybe talked with a developer or publisher. They are also probably people who have never played H&H. Think about how accurate a description you could get about H&H from someone who has only played for 10 min and maybe looked around the forums a little. These are the kinds of witnesses we are counting on for our information.

Reporter after ten minutes: HnH is a game where you run around naked, get splinters in your feet, and get knocked out by ants. I HATE IT.

Whining about cash shops is so annoying... especially when people don't even know how it will work.

F.e selling the ability to craft or build things with special skins/models would be perfectly fine. Players will determine the ingame-value of those vanity items themselves.

The cash shop will work like all cash shops work. It will be there for the company to make money off a F2P game that is not really F2P you will get to a point where there is no way around the cash shop in order to advance. Did I make that fairly clear? Am I wrong in how cash shops work?
Is that considered whining?
I consider it stating a fact.

It strongly depends on HOW cash shop is done. MapleStory (the MOST ruined by cash shop game ever) would have been good before cash shop actually DID start to become "YOU NEED IT" to play, however they also fixed that by allowing you to purchase it with ingame items through other players, which is pretty cool.

Consider also if there is any cash shop, and you are able to kill people, you'll probably be able to kill them for their cash shop, if you aren't, then you'll probably be able to kill them then laugh at them.

The game looks great, can't wait to play it, don't see why people are bitching about the art, I actually like it. I'm guessing some stuff is placeholder like the CRAFT buttons though, I only really have a few questions that I think are important for people in the HnH community:
1)What will the client be like, HnH style? Opensource? Editable for our needs?
1b)If not, how good will it be, will it get updates people actually ask for?
2)How do you guys feel about taking your idea of a permadeath hardcore game into a new setting? I mean people have wanted to see it happen for a long time now and now it's happening, that's pretty awesome and pretty hardcore. I'm sure there are other settings people would like to see too and Salem was probably the last one I was expecting, but it seems pretty awesome and I can't see it going wrong really.

Thank goodness it's 3d, I couldn't handle another game that obsesses me. Since I hate 3d over 2d or 2dh I'll stick with haven..lol

I really don't like the idea of cash shops for anything other than cosmetic/vanity items. If cash shops allow you to buy gameplay advantages or crucial parts of the game, then the game will be ruled by those who have the most disposable RL-income to blow on microtransactions. It's a bad system, and the reason many players quit LotRO after it went free-to-play; who wants to be a second-class citizen ingame simply because you don't feel like spending all of your hard-earned money on it?
