I didn't play in 3 years or so, but i still regularly check for news on the development. When the "new H&H" comes, i'll definitely come back and would gladly pay for it, together with my girlfriend. Keep up the good work, i'm really looking forward to it :)

^^ This.

I would pay to play Haven 2.0 if they had a good "Around the Clock" playerbase. I Honestly couldn't think of a more fun game. Especially if the online players were mostly humans instead of bots, and were not afraid to PK.

Oh and i have a comment on the 2D-3D issue.
In the games i program (nothing completed), i experimented a lot with different combinations. Initially i went for a isometric map with heights in 2D. I later tried to develop with 3D terrain and 2D sprites in pixelart style. But there are simply a ton of limitations if you go for 2D objects, like shadows and lightning in general or cumbersome "varianting" and turning of objects. So if you really want to make it nice, then full 3D is the way to go - i love that you are able to keep the charming look of a 2D game with the rendering techniques you described (i went for pixelart for the this reason). It's just a lot of work to create and texturize all the models. I'd only recommend 2D sprites if you don't have enough time, want to limit the game and are ok with not having good lighting and shadows...and animations, rotated objects, variants. I don't really want to imagine the work you had with animating all animals in 4 directions.
One thing i really hate, which i'm sure you met too in Haven, is with object overlapping. Sometimes it is not enough to draw in the correct order - for example, i once had a cart that was standing in something like a carport. There occured some graphical errors when moving in or out: The cart had to be behind the frontwall but in front of the backwall, which is not possible with 2D sprites. It's nothing too big and not that noticable, but there can always be situations where it is, and then i find it annoying to have. So imo, you made a really good decision here, especially with trying to keep the 2D-style.

In case anyone wants to see a pic :D

I never rendered the water correctly, but the system was really fun to play with: it had sources where water came from, which traveled down the slopes and finally went into the ground. I could put some water anywhere and just watch it running down its paths, creating little lakes and puddles that finally oozed away. The plan was also to have some kind of erosion created from the flowing water. A night&day cycle was also in place.
On the lower left you can see some bunnies hopping around, and the naked guy that looks a lot like someone from H&H. Actually, H&H was one of the inspirations to start this.

edit: I probably wasn't clear here: this was never a game, nor will it be one (it never had actual gameplay). So it's no advertising, it was just to provide background on my comment.

It is drawn using true 3D in all ways; however, it uses a camera that exactly mimics the isometric perspective of 2D Haven, the models are intentionally made to look similar in their rendered state to the 2D graphics in Haven, some things have outlines and/or celshading applied and some other similar concerns are made in order to try and preserve the feeling and style of 2D Haven, while improving it in the areas where 3D can improve it (such as the way the terrain itself is drawn).

For the record, it should be said that we really were unsure of whether to go with 2D or 3D for a long time. The main two reasons we went with 3D were that it's much easier to create new animals, character clothes, equipment and animations and similar things; and also that it's possible to do such things as rotating objects and having a height map. Outside of that, there are many things speaking both for 2D and for 3D, but we felt those things pretty much eclipsed all else.

Also, in case anyone missed it, we don't plan to have any "early testing" period only open to a select few. We pretty much plan to open it for public testing as soon as it's barely playable, just as we did originally. So you can stop nagging is for access to that nonexistent phase.

Drooling.... new animals... new character clothes...nommmmmmy nommmy nommmy Yes! yes! More clothes... IJS (goes back to farming now) This looks terrific so far HnH is such a wonderful game. <3 Thanks for all you guys do.
