Thats actually fairly realistic.

"As armour improved, so did the methods of attacking the armor. It was quickly realized that cutting weapons were losing their effectiveness, so crushing weapons such as maces and axes were utilized. But thrusting weapons that could split the rings of mail, or find the joints and crevices of plate armour, were also employed. Long tapered swords could also be used as a lance once the lance was splintered."

My point was that unarmed on heavily armoured dudes isn't as stupid as some people were saying. Estocs, spears etc never came into it.

Spears would be good, though. Most common weapon for a reason. I wouldn't mind being able to shoot with them in addition to melee. Some guy starts legging it, throw the spear. Maybe make it partly based on melee or strength.

Alrighty, I'll have to agree with you on that part then. Wrestling an- No, actually. If you pushed a heavily armored foe to the ground, you'd have enough time to run away, if unarmed.

And instead of "moves" sharing the same cooldown as your attacks, they would have a seperate bar. If you are losing the battle then you switch which kind of moves your doing. but you would be punching the whole time.

This is a decent idea. Chop, Sting and punch could auto attack while you used moves to set up for Cleave or Knock him teeth out, ect. Same basic design except it would make combat feel more active instead of feeling like you're waiting most of the time.

Unarmed vs armored is pretty useless. Punching or kicking someone where metal chain or plate is not going to hurt them. Maybe you could knock them down and run away but that's it.

Is Unarmored/Light Armor vs heavy armor more what your referring too. Using basic weapons like a stone axe or a flint dagger would work. Even leather armor would absorb most of the blow from trained unarmed combat. Add in a sword and shield, and someone without a weapon would do better to run.

combat experience form eyes of a new player
This is a small tale of my experience with combat,
Old system
Back in the day I was weak, and could kill much of anything, ants did a lot of damage that would take me for a long time to heal due to leeches not being too kind and because life was hard then and i went starving for long periods of time. But after some time i learned how to make armor and taken my basic stone axe i went back to take revenge on ants it was slow process it took some time for me to hit them, but since i had my armor on it soaked up all the harm ants could have done to me and it balanced out in one way or another, then i learned how to make better armor and how to fight better and ants stopped being problem for me, i even started to think of moving onto something stronger and even finding my self some sheep but then something happened....
New system
One day i woke up to be my self wounded, at first moment i panicked but then i realized i have some extra health added to me, and that i needed to heal it, that became a big problem due to leeches not being kind and only healing when ever they feel like it and at a price, but this time around i was not starving as much. After a while i found ants in my small garden, and decided to remove them, that turned out to be a bad idea. At first it i could realize why i could just come up to them and chop them like in the good old days, as it turned out i had to charge them - it looked like good way to start combat, plus i thought there would be some charge bonus but it did not go as i would have imagine i had to charge it five times before i could hit with my axe and that only to miss. so after going on like that for a while and not doing much harm to ants i decided to jump a bit, looked like a good idea. It was not i only lost bit of time, plus this tie around my armor did not soak up the damage and i had to flee much to the amusement of my neighbor from ants with little health left both the hard and soft. Some time past and i got my hands on some better stuff, it made me much stronger, and gave me more armor, so i decided to go and have a rematch with ants, after charging ant for a while i manged to kill it without much difficulty but the second and decided that it is better then me and did not want to die, even more then that it decided that it was who was to die that day and i had to flee to my boat to survive the evil ants plans for me. Now i spend much of my times sitting in the swamp and trying to forget my small dreams of eating some better meat then rabbits and of getting my self animals.

An idea would be to keep the new combat system for PvP combat, and the old combat system for attacking animals.

new PvP system(melee and range too) is really crap. I can drink tea and run away from the enemy or just logout. And no one can't stop me even archer.
