I feel it is still way too much though. Doing normal stuff ingame, like building myself a new house, and a 40x30 pallisade, does not even drain enough hunger to let me eat enough butter-steamed bulbs, to gain 2 points in PSY. I'm our jeweler. I need my statgain :(.

Please, the way food was, was actually fine, IMO. If you have to reduce hunger drain, I'd say 3x would be the absolute max to keep things reasonably fun.
Bring back more hunger drain please!

Ok, so after a few more days of playing...
I love the boars, they add a lot of excitement to wandering around. The woods feel dangerous again.
I got used to the fishing spots, yeah, they are ok. A step in the right direction for sure.
The hunger, I agree with Marinuzz to an extent. 5x is WAY better than 10x, which was silly. I didnt like the old level very much tho, the amount of food required was silly. I am thinking maybe 3x? Thats 1/3 of the food we used to eat, and means that finding chants and apples are 3x as valuable as they were.

One of the main things I like about the new system is that if you do a lot of work, you want to take a break, rest, sit in a chair, have some water or tea. In the old system, you do a lot of work, you immediately scramble for food. "I am tired! give me food!"
Never really struck me quite right. Im voting for 3x.

Well it is not just the matter of trying to deplete the hunger meter by doing stuff it is also trying to compromise the balance of the amount of hunger producing jobs as oppose to depleting from other activities. By setting it to 10x, this balance had been upset and hunger producing jobs are much less needed, perhaps not needed at all of one person can feed about 10 or 15 people. 5x is the right direction but it is yet to see if this will create a good equilibrium.

The next hing to look at is what Jorb is trying to aim for in terms of simulation. Is it required to produce a field of crops when only one farm is enough to feed a city? Perhaps not all reality is needed here and an occasional break from it is welcome while other reality based details are welcome but the real question is what is Jorb aiming for? Simulation, MMO, or a bit of both.

Tell you what. I'll make you a little program where you can click on buttons labeled "eat" all day long. For the rest of us, I think we'd prefer to play a game where you actually get things done.
Surprise.

I agree, I finally was able to build my settlement without having to keep minding my hunger.

Actually I think its nice to see loftorb making changes to food consumtion. I really didn't like to eat 20 chickens and 50 fishes just to stay well for 20 minutes or similar. Its not the hunger per se, its the amount of food needed for filling my stomach. I think more fep per food would be nice, at least now when the challanges for skills and attributes now are as high as they are. Anyway I think advanced food like sausages or baking should give more fep, and ordinary food just filling like now. It gives incitement (spelling?) to advance in the "food chain" ^^. So instead of making us more hungry again, give us bog iron so I can make high quality foodstuff more effieciently for more feps.

Anyway I like the improvements made and I like that you try to decrease grinding. Thanks loftorb!

i like this tea suggestion, drinking tea to be hungry...

jorb wrote:Playing a bit right now.

Food: While I don't think the present levels are unreasonable from a realism POV, this is, after all, Eating Things Online. I think you should eat more by a factor two. I.e. Five times less compared to before the update.

Tea: Might be a good idea. Isn't it a bit of an invitation to simple and base grinding, though?

maybe, but why not? is there really a solution to prevent grinding?
actually it is: handplowing & drinking water, to get ko'ed by animals & healing with leeches, and running on grassland or roads...

give us back a benefit of (green/black) Tea in this game!

SynthesisAlpha wrote:Allow tea leaves to be dried on a drying rack like wild windsown weeds, add a use for black tea leaves. Hell, make clay and fish points useful but not the only way to get those resources.

Potjeh wrote:10x hunger reduction is way too extreme. 2x would be more like it, though I didn't have a problem with what it was like (mostly thanks to tea, which is now completely obsolete).

Instead of complaining about how you can't spend all your ingame time eating now, how about asking for more endgame content instead?

Once you've got your settlement up and running the way you want it, there is little else to do but eat, that's what needs fixing.
