It's a proximity thing, indeed. It's currently set to only take items from stockpiles circa 1½ tiles from the construction object, so if you don't want to use particular items in a construction project, just don't load them up close to the construction site.

You'll have to forgive me, I've had a bit too much to drink and a bit too little sleep. Even so, I feel I have to say that everything I'm hearing about the new Haven is super-exciting. The only other thing that's had me this psyched in the past year was 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons, and that's the highest praise I've got right now.

Also, sorry for finding the prototype Hafen client last year, my bad, not doing it again.

In the last two example videos, I can see a black edge on the bottom-right corner of the screen. What is that suppost to be? The edge of your view? The world? Or are you just in a test-spot there?
Also, I noticed the terrain isn't flat like it used to be, how is this going to be "flattened" to build on? Is the terrain going to be flexible with stuff you build? (paving on hills, making stairs ...)

Anyways, great job guys, can't believe how fast you develop this. As a learning developer, I can say you guys are doing awesome :)
Hope you have a great day

The animations look pretty fucking neato, and that "Harvest all" thingy will save Xcom some trouble. I'm curious as to the already discussed penalty for trespassers and thieves, the current "drain his hhp" thing kinda sucks. Combat system looks pretty much the same at base, though you can't tell much from that.

Looking forward to it :D

Jorb and Loftar, I've got one important question for you guys, which I think everyone would like to know the answer to.
Are you, if the game turns out do have quite alot of succes (same or more than current HnH), planning on keeping the game up-to-date, as in add more features as we are playing it? :)

Edit: Also, I have alot of questions, but how are you planning on making people able to trade? Is it going to stay the same it is now and let the community figure a way out? Or will there be something that aids us in trading more safely and easy?
Hope you have a great day
