Combat update is in, yo! Check it!

Oh, and prepare to get your ass handed to you by crickets and beavers.... at least, if you can't one-shot them (two if you can at least stomp-uppercut them down).

Simply cut the amount of herbs and shit everywhere by 1/5, make them more useful like in haven , increase inventory size slightly and allow hearthing with stuff in inventory Raiding villages is extreamly ineffective because of this. You should really just fix haven up and market that instead. A game doesn't need to be 3d to be a smash hit in the gaming world..
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Combat seems pretty underwhelming, can still just walk away from everything

Completely agree with this. Just look how popular some of the Flash games are, whether they're hosted on Facebook or by the developer (pointing at Realm of the Mad God... been playing that some recently).

Salem is going to end up as a different game than HnH, though. There's going to need to be some concessions made to make it commercially viable that I just wouldn't accept being done here in the "anything goes" world of the Hearthlands.

I'm not used to all the moving around, so it's taking some practice for me, but yeah, you're exactly right in that you can easily walk away from things if you pay attention. However, the deer seem to have an attack similar to Bullrun with no charge up (that I can tell) and no after-charge stun.
