What's the point of fighting bots in a grinding game anyways?

As far as game mechanics it's good to listen to people to some extent. People trying to suggest how to stop bots by saying stuff like this is not very helpful.

If there was a solution so simple loftar would of done it already im sure. If there were solutions so simple there wouldn't be bots in every mmo in the world. The fact is those "solutions" are about as helpful as saying "stop bots by stopping bots"

Most likely the only way we're gonna see botting stop is if the game mechanics themselves discourage them, and even then people will bot anything that can give a small advantage. Anything else will likely require to much time policing the game.

plz stop bot make dogmen

Zero tolerance won't work, we need harm reduction. Really, the best way is to create ambiguity and so on, things players are better at dealing with than bots, this often makes for better gameplay as well. Imo the jorbtar has a pretty good model in place for that. Since botting isn't officially against TOS, one is free to expose various exploits, the jorbtar can then respond by making the gameplay more resistant to them, creating a better game overall while doing so. Putting effort into anti-botting measures would probably take up all their time, way better then, to have them aware of what's possible to exploit so that it can be taken into consideration as they ponder meaningful gameplay.

You see, there's a difference. These are my forums, and when I post in agreement, it actually matters to the subject matter of them.

Also, I did not quote a wall of text.

So, there. You have been put in your place.

Please remain seated.

In reply to those on my statement earlier:

I am defending no one or any specific thoughts that have been placed forth. I am defending their right to contribute. As I clearly said the first time, people may be wrong and may need to be told why they are wrong but that is separate from saying if you are not skilled in this you cant contribute.

Now as for the comments about not knowing... whatever the excuse was. People all the time rise above and beyond their field of knowledge and comfort to create wonderful ideas, visions, and inventions. People can surprise you.

Now all this being said those same people are accountable for their words as well. I may support your right to be heard but do try and contribute knowingly and certainly with respect.

You should probably read the rules before trying to quote us on them. Also pick up basic netiquette, because attempting to rules-lawyer the owner is fairly stupid.

if they really want to contribute and start talking about "rights", they should do some homework.

would you appreciate loads of people who never baked a cake coming to your cooking recipe blog, starting to tell you that you should melt butter in a microwave instead of hot water because that's what they have seen as a normal method, repeatedly one after another over years, when you had already explained how it could fail?

*edit*
what i mean is, its of course fine to show your stupidity if you dont mind it, but dont start blaming others for pointing that out. also, having a programmer friend doesnt give you a credit for programming.
