Looks like the Salem server's still up and people are playing it, in any case.

That it is. Combat takes a bit to grow on you but it's the same fundamentals as before. Time your attacks and watch your opponent painfully closely. Now you need to aim your shots and not throw punches foolishly, that's all. I'm not saying that it can't be improved but animals needed to be more difficult and deadly anyway.

The snakes KO'ed me at least 10 times within last 2 days. I believe snakes are already difficult and deadly.

Snakes are really easy to kill, actually. The problem is that damn poison of theirs; it doesn't go away so it ends up killing you no matter what unless you conveniently had anti-venom on you.

Can't wait to get to play Salem too, would be especially nice during down HnH times.

Combat is tremendously bad. It's a sort of awkward hodgepodge of stumbling around punching air where your enemy used to be. I can't say I'm pleased with the terminator snakes either. I really do wonder what would posses somebody to make a hardcore survival MMO with such a sense of depth and complexity and then let rabbits beat the shit out of you.

Also by Christ the camera is probably the single most obnoxious camera I've ever encountered in a videogame. I can tell whoever implemented the auto panning is really proud of themselves. It's a technical marvel. It's also absolutely hideous to play with. Give it an off switch.

That said, I definitely prefer Salem's advancement system to the one in Haven, if only because it feels like you have far more control.

Might get better. We'll have to see.

Sabinati lost mod status in Salem forum: did he "quit" or was he fired?

We've been saying this for about 8 months now.

Obviously putting your fingers in your ears and going "NA NA NA NA NA NA NA" is much easier than addressing the most glaring issue in the entire game.
