This is another case where I feel the same uneasiness creeping back. As someone else pointed out in this thread, you're not American, but Swedish; five minutes' internet search reveals
your real names and even where you're based.

What his (her?) point is easy to see, because I made the exact same point last week. 4000 registrations, 300 stayed a fortnight, 20 still play. Pretty high attrition rate for a game that is free to play, wouldn't you think? What will happen when you start introducing subscriptions or RMT (or, heaven forbid, both)?
I agree with Vetarnian here guys. H&H doesn't have as many players as World of Warcraft. Clearly something is wrong. Of course, we won't mention that the number of registrations that convert into ongoing active players is low for every online game.
Especially one that's still an
Alpha.
Vetarnian wrote:And when I used to make that point, what kind of response did it get me from some of your players? "Who gives a fuck where they are? Half of them are nubs who ragequit like you. 1/4 are JTG's alts and the rest are active players and their alts." That was Chakravanti, who, by the way, wrote in another thread about his "disenchantment witht he game in general." That's someone who defended the game against me, yet he's "disenchanted", too. What do you make of this?
I don't know about jorb but I can tell you Chak's been whinging for the past two weeks about not playing when he actually has been (he came out and said he was) and the majority of the problems Chak's been whining about are well-known. See comment earlier about the game still being an Alpha. The devs have made various comments about overhauling the LP system, overhauling combat and overhauling hunger to address those issues.
Vetarnian wrote:What Rhiannon was saying is that playing the game honestly (like, you know, my own little group was doing before we upped and quit) is not only scoffed at, it also gets boring; boring to a point where every player aims for the path of least resistance -- that is to say, avoid putting any effort into making stuff by just stealing it from someone else, like you have done with your little experiment in replicating the Newbie Experience.
Yeah, that's a lie. You can't steal everything you need from every other camp. Eventually you'll steal so much people will start rocking up on your doorstep asking for their stuff back (something we found when one of our own miscreants nicked someone's meat grinder from a claim). I also know a guy - who wasn't with us but had settled nearby - ended up dead because all he did was steal to survive. He stole from the wrong person who decided to track him down. I know because they tracked his scent back to his camp across the river and asked us if he was one of ours and whether he stole from other people as well. n00bie thieves don't last long.
And consider the fact that in order for you to steal, it means *someone* must be making that stuff and that those who are making stuff (like we are now) make a lot more than what gets stolen.
In short, your issues are either imagined (you try stealing everything and see how long you survive) or are already known and will be addressed in due time.
Also, lulz at Libertarian rant.
