Well, it's still set to "release" in Q3 2012, so maybe loftar will finish multi-server support in the next 15 days so Salem can finally be open beta.

I just don't agree with this game, its devs or the community. Mostly because I can't explain what the fuck I want to say, but still, congratulations and all that.
Hip-hip hooray!

As my last wish I want kaka to release his(?) goddamn tracks and for nicolette to give me a hug.

I'm aware that this thread is largely Salem hating, but Rock, Paper, Shotgun put a little article up on Salem today.

I strongly urge everyone in the Haven community to go back and read the OP of this thread (now almost a full two years later). You'll bounce between a bunch of emotions, most of them hilarity, rage, and sadness.

Here's some gems:

Absolutely nothing. Development on Haven has continued, continues and will continue as per usual, although with the less than weekly updates that you have witnessed for the past four months or so. As soon as Salem is released, we intend to bring the development of Haven back up to normal speed.

Also check out the screenshot in the OP. That's what the game looked like 2 years ago. Man a lot can change in just two years. Look at all the work they've done.

(I originally dug up this thread because I wanted to find what the initial planned release date for Salem was as I'm constantly amazed that Paradox hasn't pulled the plug on the whole thing)

     In case you were wondering, it was originally slated for release SUMMER OF 2011.

It is presently being targeted for a late Q2 (end of summer) 2011 release.

I think everyone immediately realized that Q2 of 2011 was painfully unrealistic. Actual game development and programming takes time and if you want a product that isn't terrible then you need to test, break, rebuild, and rework everything several times. It's a bit sad that things have been so quiet but it'd be a lie to say that updates were bustling out when that post was made. Updates had mostly come to a halt several months before that even. =)

I'd say that Salem is roughly 20% complete.

is salem worth playing yet?
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
