You can generally get away with game changing cash shop items when your game is simply a hack and slash MMO with no PVP or character/world interaction (a la Maple Story), but when PVP is such a large part of the gameplay (as well as permadeath), there's simply no way to implement a donation/reward system without it being overpowered or unfair.

But... but... if I spend my hard earned 10k dollars on Salem instead of getting a car so I can move out of my parents' house, didn't I earn the right to be the best? Q_Q

I'm sure jorb could design you some cool stuff if you give him that kind of money. I wouldn't mind as long as it is just a graphical change. My wolf cape (I didn't buy it, I reported a bug) was like a bear cape with more hp.
