Ideally they'd need to build a boat which is 1,500 LP for Wheelmaking, not to mention all the LP before that. Of course that's assuming they survive that long without food because they're not going to be able to hunt any of the animals out there and it's not so easy to live off fish like you used to be able to.
It is going to be a little bit luck of the draw to find apples, mulberries or wild crops. I can imagine some n00bs wandering around, being ganked by a bear, having their shoes destroyed, getting thorns in their feet and dying a horrible, horrible death and wandering WTF it is they walked in to.
Then again, there is Brodgar. If someone really has trouble starting out in the wilderness, if they've got a brain they'll maybe pick the civilized option next time and start there. We are talking wilderness, it's not supposed to be easy and if you ignore the great big flashing "Civilization" sign then maybe you're too retarded to be saved anyway (or maybe the sign should be bigger and flash more?).
Let's also face reality, most n00bs (I might be wrong but maybe jorb / loftar have some referral stats they'd like to share) seem to come from established players. IE: My peeps will be starting off with a secret so they start near us. I suspect most communities here will do the same. That makes getting external players in a lot easier (saves certain people having to be online at the right time in order to get people places for us) and gives them a community they can join right off the bat.
I don't see any of this as a problem. Those that want to play loner style will and they'll maybe enjoy trying to work things out and survive. Those that try city life and think it sucks now have a second option to start somewhere that has trees and those that are joining an existing community can get there right away instead of waiting for or having to organise a pick-up.
And there's a *slight* chance towns will be less worried about building Charter Stones as n00bs will potentially be randomly popping-up nearby anyway.
