To be honest, the greatest problem isn't so much the funds (Hetzner is rather cheap), but the time needed to set everything up.

If you host at Hetzner, they have SSD 120GB for 15E/month. And if you need any help with system setup, i can help you for free.

Sorry couldn't help myself. Let me make a more informative post.

loftar wrote:It seems to be processing about 10 files per second, so at my previous estimate of their being about 500k files on the filesystem, that would put an upper bound on the process to take 10-20 hours. I would guess that far from all files are actually fragmented to begin with, though.

We are at Sun Jun 10, 2012 6:30 am so that is about 7 hours
Edit: This is not saying that the sever is gonna defiantly be fixed. Loftar was just trying the defrag to see if it helped.
Edit: from 19 hours to 7 hours. Miss calc

Defragmentation of a common computer can take upwards of 2 days.

I believe you said something about this earlier. XD

Just to make it clear beforehand: No, I don't know how long it will take, and no, I don't know whether it helps. :)

Depending on the size of whatever you're defragmenting, could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days :geek:

No, but not so much because I expect it not to be done (I don't know whether it will), but because I'm going to bed now. :)

Hahaha, well, thanks for replying. Goodnight Loftar.

I tried to look and see Hetzner they offered SSDs but didn't find it. That would be cool if that could be done. Likely they might have to put the main game data on the SSDs and backup data on the HDs. Not sure if that would work the way their structure is setup of course.

Too bad I at work we have like a ton of 800GB enterprise SSDs for a project I'm working on if I only could steal a couple. hehe.. :)

Anyway I'm hopeful that if the de-frag is taking this long maybe it was badly needed.. lol (fingers crossed)

This is such a wonderful additive game that I'm having HnH withdraws. lol

Defragmentation is done on NTFS filesystems, not on the filesystem the server databases use.
