Also, the lag we have right now may actually have a fixable reason to it. I'd rather fix that than change the animals.

so no more death blows?
Certainly, in taking revenge, a man is but even with his enemy; but in passing it over, he is superior; for it is a prince’s part to pardon. - A wise friend.

NEVER change the animals. Just ignore all the bitching people.
They can all just eff off. I like the new changes. It brings excitement.

New update is awesome. Don't change any of it please. I'm only getting a tiny bit of lag every 10 minutes of so, which is nothing, although I occasionally get the bug where you get disconnected and it says "already logged in" bug. However, excellent job, 10/10. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how the mining in caves works out.

In few weeks ppl will complain how boring is to hunt... just keep it, later it will get much nice and "realistic" to hunt.

Why do I get the feeling jorb and loftar have been playing Dwarf Fortress?

Because now hearthlings are as disposable as Legendary Cheese Makers.

Cheers on the new changes guys.

@ loftar - Where's my tool belt dagnabbit!

Just make animals unable to kill players and make more of them. It's silly to walk around 1h to find only one fox tht runs away at the end...
But I must say that LP reward for killing is great now! :)

The excitement from the changes is highly temporary... In a week or two nobody will be getting killed by boars or cave ins. We'll be exactly back to how things were before, just now with higher LP rewards for abusing the hunting system. We also get more LP for foraging, I've noticed, which is nice. It makes it so you can advance your character while being productive and actually doing something. Hunting still takes its place on the throne as the #1 LP source, though; now more than ever. It's all about the afk time - nothing's really changed as far as balancing the combat system/LP gain goes. There's just more LP like everyone's been asking for, but that just means we'll get back to where we were faster, then it's the same grind.
We need things with more actual player involvement, which is why I believe skill should account for the vast majority of battles, not stats (combat stat/equipment quality) nor from going afk.

I'm riding in a boat as I type this. We're going on a hunting trip since that LP dominates everything. I'm with those guys who posted a screenshot with several bear, boar, and fox carcasses. There's just no need to risk my life wandering a forest for taproots and nettles, inching my skills up to 30, when my associates got their marksmanship up to 40+ in one day from good ol' hunting.

when I killed my first boar of this world, I was like, WOOOOOO! oh hey, thats alot of LP.

[edit]
what I really hate is when you hit, but it only does about 28 points. that feeling of impending doom is a little overwhelming. its just, "hey boar! *whap* OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK!!"
