The excitement from the changes is highly temporary... In a week or two nobody will be getting killed by boars or cave ins. We'll be exactly back to how things were before, just now with higher LP rewards for abusing the hunting system. We also get more LP for foraging, I've noticed, which is nice. It makes it so you can advance your character while being productive and actually doing something. Hunting still takes its place on the throne as the #1 LP source, though; now more than ever. It's all about the afk time - nothing's really changed as far as balancing the combat system/LP gain goes. There's just more LP like everyone's been asking for, but that just means we'll get back to where we were faster, then it's the same grind.
We need things with more actual player involvement, which is why I believe skill should account for the vast majority of battles, not stats (combat stat/equipment quality) nor from going afk.
I'm riding in a boat as I type this. We're going on a hunting trip since that LP dominates everything. I'm with those guys who posted a screenshot with several bear, boar, and fox carcasses. There's just no need to risk my life wandering a forest for taproots and nettles, inching my skills up to 30, when my associates got their marksmanship up to 40+ in one day from good ol' hunting.
RIP
