so groups can't start together?

Correct. We think that that plus the increased difficulty in arbitrarily creating alts at a given location is going to be beneficial for the game's environment. Our perspective would be to approach it as a single-player game first and foremost.

Does that mean people can expect a product more of the likes of one of those recently very popular survival games? No focus on city building, societal experiements, politics and similar aspects that used to be a factor in HnH during its earlier years?

Probably easier to balance and develop this way, but at the same time it is going to lack some of the more fascinating aspects.

Why would you make a multiplayer game singleplayer-focused?

Casual players aren't going to bother playing a game if they can't play with their friends. Hardcore players will play regardless, so that's a moot point.

"Hey friends, want to play this fun game with me? Ok well first you're going to have to play on your own for several weeks before we can have fun with one another. Have fun figuring the game out, getting raped by experienced players while doing so, and losing interest fast."

@Jorb & Loftar

Have you considered a way to add friends to your kin list so people can at least know them when they find them? Kind of like the describe method you know of them but not where they are because you have not met yet.

I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this new form of spawning. I'm all for the idea of making alt-spawns difficult, but not being able to play with my friends for a long time seems like a bummer (especially cuz alot of them haven't played HnH yet and they need to learn on their own).
Hope you have a great day

I'll still be playing with two mains even if I have to walk them both out.
the crafter never leaves the walls.

removal of the silly trad and change would be nice though. pearl gear will be op.

Tbh, I would still grow another main too, not for your reasons but just for a back up should the worst happen, but, imo, it's nice that you don't have to. I played a single char for quite a while (separate from my village) just as an experiment, it went well even with sliders, obviously it took time, having to keep moving from one end to the other, farming first and then metals and then back again but it worked fine.

I understand everyones concerns with regard to starting with their friends though, there should be a way for this to be possible. For me as a hermit it makes no difference, it's the same start I have every world, spawn, find a base area and then chat to ppl who are around. Once we have a map I let friends know where I am and vice versa and once villages are up, problem sorted.

Hi Burgi! Nice to see you here, pls stay, lol.

What is this if not a societal experiment? :)

Speaking about wall colors, maybe make brickwalls (if they still exist) the color of the bricks you're using. I guarantee a white wall somewhere.
