Certainly, in taking revenge, a man is but even with his enemy; but in passing it over, he is superior; for it is a prince’s part to pardon. - A wise friend.

We need the ability to make traps please... It'll be funny if you can use a skill to lure animals to another town or something using dead animal meat...

Bears/Boars getting on your nerve? Go throw some slabs of meat at someone's place and *poof* no more bears near your place.

So far my most successful trapping method for boars is to attack the animal from a distance with a sling (hopefully missing so that I don't whittle down my eventual lp gain too far) and then hot foot it for the nearest source of water using my own vulnerable pink body as bait. On the bank there will hopefully be an enclosure for me to dart into. It's not going to be boar proof, but the opening is small and once the boar de-aggro's me I can get out easily and with luck he blunders around inside not noticing either the exit or me until it is sealed up again.

Then it is time to get or make a boat and come back and clobber the poor fellow from safely on the water.

This method has a number of disadvantages. Being ko'd is the least of it. Finding the suitably placed animal, the suitably placed trap location and the boat is not exactly automatic. I have found it much easier to locate animals inland than on the shore, simply because in my area there are a lot of people cruising the river seeking the game animals. Also, although the darn critters do return after they run away in fear they only do it often enough to raise false hopes in me, since so far they have invariable run off the last time and disappeared completely.

So far I have not found a boar-proof enclosure that will protect me, only one that prevents him from running away. I know from sad experience that make a double thick ring of round-pole fences around myself doesn't work. I ended up trapped unconscious in the tiny little corral with the boar and a crate full of spare ammo blocking my only egress.

I am quite looking forward to trying to make a ring of lit fires to see if that prevents me from getting savaged, and a ring of mine supports (assuming I can build them outside of a mine). I am not sanguine. But I live in hopes of making a "Ring of Brodgar" out of stones that I can re-use as an animal trap. It's going to be lively!

From the sound of it team hunting offers so many more advantages over solo hunting that I'd suggest finding a hunting partner (or three). Hermits are having a hard time of it compared to team players. : (

Also, if you need bones, in the more populated areas of the world I am finding abandoned skeletons and carcasses that are not skinned or butchered all the time. I find about two or three times as many dead foxes and boars as I find live ones!

Or you could safely shoot him while your in your boat, then as soon as it runs, you run after him, punching him along the way.
