Longbows were made from yew, overharvesting of which led to Europe-wide scarcity.

As for force behind their projectiles, winch drawn crossbows with steel bow went up to 5000lb, whereas with longbow you can get up to maybe 120lb if you're really strong.

Long bows got through armor pretty good and crossbows were a later development.

Longbows got through chain pretty good, plate not so much. And crossbows gained wide popularity around 12th-13th century, though the invention itself took place way before that (Ancient Greece). They just didn't really catch on until they were really needed to get through armour, due to slow rate of fire.

Uhm, that video supports my side - ie that bows aren't really useful for killing people in plate. Now, a crossbow bolt could go straight through that same plate and the man wearing it.

So would an arquebus but I don't see either happening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCE40J93m5c a little penetration

They did a pretty crappy job of showing that off...

I was expecting them to leave the arrows in to show how far they went through, and to show the bag on the other side so that we could see the body penetration.
If you're going to waste a piece of armor, why not make it as educational as you can?
Also terrible aim on both of them lol

Get a bow and make your own vid or find a better one.

You seem to have taken some offence to that, was one of those 2 people you or something?
I'm sorry if I offended your marksmanship, young squire
