What kind of "RAM drive" are you talking about? I'm not overly keen on losing the world any time the server happens to go down unexpectedly. ^^

That's NP you can back it up few times a day, so in case of loss ppl will lose 6-24h of gametime. But the boost will be huge

RAM drives can back up onto SSDs or onto HDDs at incredibly high speeds and with greater reliability than any RAID configuration. That and the fact that hetzner has a UPS puts it at far higher reliability than your standard 2 HDD RAID configuration.

Considering the game world is rather small using mechanical storage in RAID is inferior, outdated, and both more costly and less reliable.

It will save hetnzer money on parts and labor and save you a hassle.

EDIT

Just to compare, even with a SSD backup you're still paying less than half what you would for a dual 3TB RAID set up. You could even have triple redundant SSDs with how small the world is and still be saving money.

QQ. I've already told them to please replace it as soon as possible; just thought I'd keep you updated.

In that case, however, that sounds precisely like what the ordinary block cache already does.

so now. . . are we talking another day(business hours) or how long of a delay approximately before they can put it in? and the whole rebuild thing, what's the average time for the rebuild?

I'm getting the sick feeling that it'll be the weekend b4 the server is back up.

well, at least it's a free game. thanx for all the work that you have put into it.
