Jorb knew it was down the whole time if you went to his profile you can see when he was last active . I'm sure he was trying to either fix something or bring the server back up for the most part of it being down.

Personally I would like a fresh start of the game ( W7), many places seem like a graveyard with long abandoned claims and villages plus there is basically no way for new players to catch up with the ones that have been playing since W5 began siting on all the best nodes with g +100 trees and crops.

the worst thing is that most caves are blocked with random villages

He probably went over to the server hosting company, which unearthed in a beerfest, but the keg exploded drenching the servers. Isn't it obvious?
