I know you were joking about being able to enslave other players, but it's actually a great idea.

I think it's a fun idea too actually. :D I imagine a village would be willing to fight to get back a prized merchant or an especially good crafter.

Like it has been answered several times already, the captured player wouldn't have to play the character. They'd be dead for all purposes.

And why to not just kill? Well, enables non-permanent solution to crime. And maybe some mechanics could be invented to use the slave labour. Or then the prisoners/slaves could just work as a static decoration for your dungeon.

Slaves would be awesome, but they should have a time limit before they are free again.

And what prevents them from simply trying to capture them again? Or circumvent any system that would normally prevent them?
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

Honestly if your main character was enslaved
right now and you get it back in 5 hours, would
you play?

There's no reason to help your enemy who enslaved
you, so if you wanted a slave it would have to be
turned into an AI, so people enslave alts for labor
and thus become lazy as heck.

You are the slave, get back to work.

No, it's okay because you would be able to enslave males too. Also jorb will need to add a racial selector in character creation for additional authenticity.

You're incentive is to play legitimately because we're all a bunch of god-damned LARPing fags anyway.

If your Uber-leet char with over 9,000 Str was captured, your initial reaction would be to plead with your negotiators in most cases. If for example, the Murderer KlauE was captured by the Righteous Xanadu and enslaved in Xanadu HQ, the first attempt would be figuring out the conditions of release for the prisoner. Perhaps with some IRC or forum negotiating. Obviously someone who had captured him didn't intend to kill him, so maybe KlauE has some chance there once he's shown he's properly rehabilitated. Assuming that is, he doesn't mind logging in and working the Good Prince Jorb's fields for a week / month / seventeen years in order to earn his freedom.

Of course what would really happen is the Evil town of Wayneville would muster a counter-attack and free the hapless victim, who upon release would be free to continue his wicked ways. The upside being he didn't die. The screenshot of the, in-turn, captured Xanadu prisoners being paraded through the streets of Wayneville would be posted on the forums and generate much lulz and e-drama.

Suicide would of course be added as an option for those who did wish to (or could only) escape through death and inherit the ancestor. Xanadudeians would mass self-sacrifice as their only way of escaping the clutches of their new German Concentration Camp Masters.

The newly inherited characters then go back to plowing their fields / catching bunnies and sitting around in chairs talking about the weather.

Oh and by the way, captured slaves can log-out but in such a case, their character remains online getting hungry. They are of course fed via food troughs like all good slaves should be, or left to starve to death.
